I've been having issues with the Squidoo site for the last few days. Somebody told me that the CSS isn't loading properly - whatever that means. I submitted a bug report to Squidoo and immediately received a canned response. But then a few hours later, I got an actual email from an actual real person! They sent me a link that they wanted me to test... (The page didn't load at all. ) Then today, I got another email from them with 4 more links to test! (Two didn't load, one gave me a weird error, and one worked! ) I still don't know what the problem is, and I still can't get the site to work for me, but I am really impressed with the responsiveness of their support team!
The Squidoo team is small and over-worked, but they are a great bunch of guys - I've had the pleasure of working with them on a couple projects
For me, all the the Squidoo pages have formatting issues and load slowly atm. Perhaps they're just upgrading or something.
I wouldnt worry about it, Squidoo is doing pretty good now that we are in the middle of a social bookmarking boom. I'm sure the bubble will burst but Squidoo is big enough to last.
I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one! I did read that they recently moved to bigger servers... or something like that.
Squidoo staff member Gil has said that more updates to the new max lens layout are expected sometime this week.
Yup. Gil is the one that I have been emailing. He just sent me another email and said that the problem is fixed but it may take 24 hours before I am able to see the change... So now I am counting down the hours before I can get back in and finish up the new lens I was in the middle of...
Good to here they are looking into fixing your problem so quickly. They seem to have good member support.
Woohoo!! Gil and the other support guys at Squidoo really rock! Whatever it was, they got it fixed and I am back in business.
Cool, glad to hear. Were you manually editing CSS yourself? I am curious how it would just break, unless you were trying to do something complicated and made a mistake.
try un-maxing your lens (in the admin of a lens, its on the lower right), that will remove the new site design that was just implemented. Otherwise, post this on squidu.com and someone there will probably help out!
I created a new lens last night and as of today it still does not come up in the search when I search for it by name. I'm not sure what that's all about. Is there some sort of delay it takes for your new lens to be included in their directory?
Yes - up to 24 hours. Look for the green tick next to the lens on your dashboard, and make sure you have at least 3 modules (not including Introduction and Guestbook).
Good to hear you back Buff. Now you can check out the lenses I told you about and finish that new one of yours.
