SMS Text Mesaging through site?

Hello, does anyone know someone that uses a way to send text messages through their website to other users?

Also, does it put a heavy strain on the server? Would appreciate any information , or thoughts on this. Thank you.

 

I've created one but I am in the process of re-developing it.

That would depend on the process of sending the SMS and how much traffic the site received. IMO, sending through eMail would be "light" and one that sent through another gateway would use more resources.

 

I run TextYu and as long as you restrict countries / gateways then its fine.

 

I have one for US and Cananda. Really light load and no mysql.

I'm looking to integrate it with a social networking site so people receive notifications of new messages, comments, etc. and maybe even the ability to sms each other without ever having to reveal their cell number to the public.

It should be able to send hundreds a day for what I need. I'm still not completely clear on the gateway part. Would this function on my server or some free 3rd party? I noticed some sites like www.clickatell.com charge for every text message sent which could get very expensive.

Can anyone tell me how it is done?
Its not like a script which does the thing. Because it gives away the info and through satlite and stuff.

 

If you're referring to sending SMS then yes, it can be achieved with a script.

well, sending SMS means sending email as much i have learned till now..Well, i know about how to send sms from email to my country mobile no. and if you want for your country then i can look for that also.
