How to start SEO

I know two main ways of SEO. first one is directory submission and second is article submission with website link in the resource box. From which method i should start?

You can start with articel submission. why ? let me prove

As soon as you post article in ( post only in ezinearticles.com + ezine never accepts duplicate aritlce mind it) in ezine then you will start recieving backlinks. But remember backlinks are never from high PR off course high PR website will never link you for such article.

And about directory submission meanwhile you can carry on with directory submission but never go for paid submission only do free directory submission if you don't have list i can give you for free 2000 free directories

Finally the most improtant factor is onpage which you should keep in mind.

I heard that submitting articles to different directories helps to build backlinks.

 

Hey.....first go to research and analyse keywords are all right for your site use wordtracker to analyse and select right keywords for your site and then create an XML sitemap and submit it to google and then go for directory or article submission or link building......

 

My question was that what i should do first- article or directory submission.

 

First of All...Do Search Engine Submission.

Submit your website to Google, Yahoo, MSN/Live, ASK, ...etc

 

Jitu, You can start from both and work on both symmentaeneously (pls correct the spelling),

What you are toking about over here is SEM and nOT Seo.

SEO starts in the webpage code mainly from title i guess.

Both are good ways to build your backlinks. There're so many other ways that you can do to build your backlinks much better, faster, easier. One of it is by commenting to blogs. Before deciding which page should you submit your comment to, make sure it hase good PR and it gives you dofollow links. Once done, wait until your message appear on that page (after admin approval) then submit that page to ping service such as ping-o-matic. This will fasten the crawling process of search engine bot. Repeat this process several times, your page will surely get high PR soon after the next google updates his PR. BTW make sure build your linking with appropiate anchor text similar to your page title.

You can do both. I am doing them these days. I first do some directory submission, then after that I also submit few articles.

 

I am also new to SEO and found some helpful info in this post as well.

 

plant as many links as possible in the right forums and blogs. Buy discreet links from established link sellers;-)

I start SEO with the heading and html tags. That is the right way to do it. Once you have articles and pages then start with the directories and etc.

 

Yes, i understood that SEO starts from website.

 

Guys Article submssion and directory submission 2 ways for back linking but other main factor to leads is on page SEO!!!! I suggest unless u do proper onpage SEO and site stucture even u rank better or get traffic it will not lead in btter results. In terms of quality of traffic as well better lead genration u need to do proper onpage too

 

I would do forum sigs before directories, forum sigs will get you spidered, they get you traffic and imo will pass on more link juice than most directories.
