Yes that's right, I want to start my own web portal. I've been searching on the internet but haven't found anything worth while.

    I would like to make a site like yahoo.com, iol.pt or aeiou.pt :D

If anyone can help me find a good portal script I would really appreciate it.

    Hi,

I am looking at In-Portal, but so far have found very little information about it. I'll update if I learn anything.

Try Joomla, it has some really nice extensions. It's free.

    Hi,

I've looked at Joomla as a possibility many times. But whenever I visit the sites, I just come away shaking my head. With all of the modules, add-ons, incompatible versions, various encoding schemes, and what have you, I am surprised that anyone can develop a stable environment. It seems like incompatibilities are never ending, and that only those who are very well versed with the architecture and are quite capable with programming (and have lots of time on their hands), can really get excited about the platform. I think it is a total mess. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. After 35 years in the business, I think I recognize chaos when I see it.

I agree with that, I had some problems but I didn't find something better. With compatibility issues... well, I try to use just those very popular releases, so I don't end up recoding some parts of the addon.

Thanks for the responses. Joomla for me isn't even an option. It is to complicated and the plugins way overrated. I want something simple and practical.

I've been lokking for the same thing.

A simple portal script, with not so many options and features as the classic ones, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, e107, phpbb, and so on...

That's my problem as well. I haven't found anything simple and practical yet.
