Is This Duplicate Content?

    Hi All

I have a number of products I sell on my site, most of them are the same but in different sizes, if I create a page for each item and have the same review (content) but specifying the different size on each page, would this be classed as duplicate content. Is it better to just have one page with all the sizes on or 1 page for each size with similar content?

    Thanks

Yes, that would definitely count as duplicate content. Let the buyer decide the size when they order the item.

Try to make them as unique as possibly but keep in mind Google can be suprisingly smart.

Just keep "one" page in the index, use robots.txt to block the other web pages that are duplicates.

I would just have one page with the sizes listed.

I agree, also it would mean that you can concentrate on developing links to just one page, instead of many.

    Thanks for the replies

I currently have all the items on one pages and would prefer to keep that way, however my competitors listed on page 1 all have their products on separate pages. Which means they have 100+ pages indexed on Google where as I only have 20. So will it be better for me to have less indexed pages but unique on each page? However all my competitors are on page 1 so would it be best for me to replicate their sites as it obviously works for them??

    Thanks

    My dear Friend

Definitely its good for you to target top easily because you have to create backlinks for only 20 pages rather than 100 pages but remember google likes to many pages with unique content. More the number of pages with unique content more it will be indexed and more url on google means more number of customers.

visitors have different attitude for a single product there are dozens of keywords so you can hold them by targeting different keywords at different urls

Cool mate and Enjoy your day

It is not duplicated content, imagine all these mobile phones sites. They use the same specification chart for thousands of mobile phones, and only change a single word. Sometimes they only change the name cause the phones are almost identical. Is that duplicate content also? Come on, dont be silly.

There is actually no penalize for duplicate content. There is filtering, google will just ignore this page so you don't have to worry even if you get "penalized". However, for better looking site I suggest you add in a dynamic way the sizes of the product in the same page the main product is, like proposing different size through a dropdown menu, or just mention you have many of these.

    Simple. :)
