On the weekend, a guy, who is on this forum, needed a poster doing. So, I decided to do it.

I made it and sent him the watermarked version. He liked the design but wanted a few changes. So I made the changes.

Then it was pretty much done and he paid me £20 for it.

After the pay, I sent him the PSD files and continued making ALL the changes he kept asking for, again and again.
In total, I spent 4 hours making it perfect for him.

In the end, he said he didnt' want it and asked for his money back.

I was so shocked. I mean 4 hours I spent on it making all the changes to make it perfect for him and he turns around and says "i don't want it. Give me my money back".

I returned £10 but couldn't return the other £10 cos i spent it on something online as soon as I got it and didn't have enough "available" balance to send the other £10.
However, I do have enough money cos I put in a cheque on Wednesday but due to the bank holiday weekend, it still hasn't gone through. So I still haven't been able to send it.

He keeps asking for it and threatening to report me on the forum.

Uhhhh...it ain't my fault it was a bank holiday weekend!

JEEZ. He should be lucky I'm nice enough to give him the money back.

JUST WARNING YA'LL. ALWAYS ASK FOR A DEPOSIT WHEN DESIGNING SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE. THEN ASK FOR THE FULL PAYMENT WHEN THEY HAVE SEEN THE FINAL WATERMARKED VERSION.
ONCE THEY PAID YOU, SEND THEM THE PSD AND WARN THEM THAT THEY CAN'T ASK FOR THE MONEY BACK.

AFTER ALL YOU SPENT YOUR TIME AND EFFORT ON IT!

I wouldn't give him his money back. He already has a copy of the template. And Its to easy to make copies of templates and redistribute. You shouldn't of refunded it at all period.

You shouldn't have paid him back..He has agreed to the design..A deal is a deal..In fact, don't pay the other £10 too..You deserve the money over the time you have spent..Apart from that, you have already given him your biggest product - the PSD! He can make duplicates of it and say that he doesnt have it..You've given him more than enough..The rest is yours..Just ignore him since he does not know how to do business the proper way :)

Don't give him his money back. The money was for your time and work, not just work. For wasting that much time, I would have kept it all and not refunded a penny.

indeed..If I were you, I would keep all the money..Who cares..Work completed, money cashed, no more fuss..That's why its not appropriate to have money-back guarantee for design companies (otherwise we designers will end up designing, "giving" and never getting paid") :) Good luck though..

    Do what forumtyrone said first.

Ok, i see the problem here. After the customer has paid you, if you have even some business knowledge, you would not have directly agreed to his idea of "give me a refund." hers a quick business tip:

Never trust customers (asking for refunds) AFTER the item being sold is in their possession. If this ever happens, a trigger should go off in the back of your mind, saying "i cant trust this person, he has my item already...hmmm..."

I am not trying to be mean or anything but trying to give some helpful advice to you and all the others browsing the thread. Hope it has helped somewhat.

    regards,
    technorino

    @ ShadyLady:

Lesson 1: Never deliver designs through PM. Never. Always post them in thread.
Lesson 2: If the guy is 30 post's and 0 Itrader don't bother delivering anything to him, try contests owned by senior members and/or Sitepoint contests.
Lesson 3: Always Include with your contest entry your "terms" to the contest (witch you can deliver via PM and wait for a positive reply): "paypal payment, no refund, etc etc".

This way, you will avoid alot of dumbass morons.

Good luck and keep it cool.

    ;)

    An addition to scubita:
Lesson 4 (practise it): IF the customer asks for the PSD, give it ONLY after the full payment has made. PSD is everything in designing business. It reveals your work methods, your techniques, etc which can be easily copied by any noob. That's your biggest product. Have this in your TOS too :)
