And don't forget this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=24186 And for the record, my religion is to believe there is no god. Can I prove it, no. Can anybody prove there is a god, no (except maybe for said god, but he/she/they doesn't seem that interested in proving much of anything). I am however a believer in free will. Can't prove that one either, but if there was no free will pretty much any action could be defended with the argument of "I don't have a free will, therefore I was meant to do it". Then you could argue that sentencing people would be useless (unless of course we couldn't not do it because we don't have a free will). It's much easier to believe we have free will and therefore can be judged.
Glad you mentioned thundercats, was about to enter a rant about how Lion-O is clearly far superior to He-Man despite his lack of intelligence. ...lol. Skeletor is God:
I dunno man, I hink the whole thundercats team has to be there in order for Lion-o to really show his stuff... Lion-o without Panthro et all tends to get himself into a lot of trouble... Mum-RAAAAAAA is a nasty bit of work don't forget... Who would win in a fight? Skeletor or Mum-Ra?
can someone prove that there is no God? can someone tell us why we are living here in this planet? like in the story about a barber and it's customer you can never tell if He is for real or not if you will not search for Him... freewill is given to us by God because if He choses to worship or pray to Him then He should have created us to keep on praying and worship Him... imagine that you're forced to do something that you dont want or to do something without resting... without freewill you won't be able to decide on your own...
Can you prove there are no flying elephants? Can you prove dinosaurs are extinct? Can you prove there's no Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy or Peter Pan? Why does everyone seem to think there has to be a reason? There is no logical reason for an omnipotent and omniscient being to create us. It simply defies logic.
I'm not so sure. I mean, I don't believe God exists like many religious people, but you have to wonder why humans are working so hard to create robots, and why we are pushing so hard for AI and nanotech. Right now, we are superior than the intelligent machines we are trying to build , though these machines have the potential to eventually surpass, which is different from the way religious people feel about God. At the same time, humans aren't omnipotent and omniscient, so what you say makes sense when I look at it from that context.
An omnipotent and omniscient being has no wants or desires, already knows everything - therefor it has no reason to create us, care about us or give us life, and even if it did - there is no such thing as free will, becuase an omnipotent and omniscient being would know exactly what you were going to do before it ever created you.
Yes this is true actually, i mean it really is shocking how stupid Lion-O is however he is incredibly powerful, more so than He-Man I reckon. Lion-O + Panthro = ownage. Btw dunno how panthro builds all that stuff on an alien planet?? Also why do the Berbils, who are robot bears, need to grow candy trees?? Why do they care if giants keep stealing it, they have no need for candy.. (Was watching the dvd collection last week, i'm not an expert in thundercats or anything ) Skeletor would win hands down, you only have to look at Lion-O's first encounter with Mum-Ra to see how inherently useless he is at fighting. Now Mum-Ra is considerably more evil than Skeletor, I'll give him that, but is that really enough? Hmmm I'll have to get the He-Man dvd boxset & mull this over. Important decisions like this must not be rushed.
The problem with Skeletor isn't his evilness or even his own ability to act evil ~ the problem he has lies in his recruitment. His staff are all pretty useless. Kinda scary looking, but when it comes to the crunch they aren't really all that hardcore. Now if skeletor could recruit some really nasty bastards to work for him then maybe he'd stand a better chance... Mum-Ra is pretty evil for sure, but really, wasn't it his planet first? I mean didn't the thundercats arrive (Uninvited) on his planet then basically just start fighting with him? If this is the case (Which I'm pretty sure it is), then Mum-Ra is pretty much fair enough with his anger at the thundercats... Maybe he should win sometime soon.
Good thread, i voted yes. I have my own private reasons that if id share people wo uld think im crazy but yea God exists, but now whether i go to church is a different story
Private reasons? I actually believed in God for a split second during a dream I had the other night (probably brought on by the discussions in here) - the immense relief, 'load off' and love I felt was incredible. I have a good imagination and perhaps my mind was wondering what it would feel like to 'accept' a God in blind faith devoid of sense. It would be nice to feel as though God exists and is with you on your journey of life and that there's a lot of love going round.. but I'm afraid it's not for me... which is why in my dream when I experienced what it would feel like to suddenly 'believe', I quickly withdrew it and back to the reality I came - where things are generally pretty boring, a tad miserable and selfish with a great lack of love in the world. I believe it was at this point my mind was questioning which would be the best way to live for a healthy mind and well-being, and to be honest? I aren't sure. I just know I will never experience love on such a level in my life and that, to be honest, could upset me if I dwindled on it.. so moving on slightly..... For that brief few seconds in my dream it felt fucking fantastic though. Pure love. Everything was 'OK' because the lord was with me and he loves me unconditionally, yadda-yadda. If only it were real and it were true. *sniff* Pete
This is an issue where everyone will have his own way of thinking , Whether God exist or not , it all about belief .
