How do I keep myself safe from Click Fraud?

I have read many horror stories reguarding people spamming clicks on ads to get other people's google account banned/disabled. How do I prevent people from trying to click fraud me?

Don't tell your sitenames to nobody. Family and friends usually make clicks on your ads thinking they are making you a favor.
Also if you post in forums do not use your own sitenames on signatures, of at least try to be respectful with everybody.

Last year was popular the free application by AdLogger.org
With that application if your site reached a user-defined limit of clicks from same IP, your ads were blocked (not displayed anymore) for that IP.
That application is closed now, but maybe there is another similar out there.

If you notice any suspicious activity, notify Google and MAYBE you won't get your account banned/disabled...

technically their is nothing you can do.. except doing what already mantioned above like not clicking ads yourself, making sure any friends do not go crazy with clickin neither and if you ever see anything suspicious with your account report it right away.

besides adlogger you can setup a version on openX (openAds) and configure your adsense adverts in such way that they donot show again on same ip after X number of impressions.

Most clickfraud cases are site owners clicking on their ads themselves. If you are not one of those, then its a unlikely that you'll get banned.

Well, the only way to do that properly is to keep a regular eye for suspicious clicks..

I don't think that is true. I remember shoemoney got his Yahoo ads account cancelled because of click fraud and I doubt he clicked on his ads.

Keep in contact with Google, they are very understanding, once someone threatened to click fraud me, I sent them an email and they said they have ways of knowing, I dontknow if they were telling thr truth or not but they seem to have things under control. Hope that helps ease your worries.

    https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py

Depend of your niche. Could be on average/low for entertainment sites, but very low for health sites, ...
But also depends on the country where your ads are coming. Usually clicks from USA and Europe has higher CPC than from Asia or Africa.

I bet someone like shoemoney has to deal with it all the time. I mean, when you are big, you have a lot more enemies. I wonder how does he deal with it?

You can use click tracking scripts like asRep for example.
There are a lot of free scripts out there.

Install Google Analytics and keep track of your sites once or twice a week. If you see something weird, report it asap to Adsense team. And of course, keep your mouth shut about your sites :D

With Google Analytics alone you can't see the clicks on you Ads, unless you use a method like this: Tracking AdSense clicks with Google Analytics
That method use a javascript code to detect clicks on Adsense and send info to Google Analytics.
