All of my websites are targeted towards US surfers. I would like to diversify my portfolio, however, because I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket (say for example the US recession gets really bad, my US websites will feel it). I want to expand into building UK affiliate websites targeted towards UK surfers. For any of you international affiliate marketers, are there differences between targeting international and US traffic? I assume it would be a good idea to get a .uk domain.
I had used a keyword tool and noted good number of searches for "affiliate program uk" (10k) and "uk affiliate program" (20K). Google searches: allintitle:affiliate program uk = "Results 1 - 10 of about 2,420 for allintitle:affiliate program uk" allintitle:uk affiliate program = "Results 1 - 10 of about 2,410 for allintitle:uk affiliate program" The following domain mames are still available a few minutes ago: affiliateprogramuk.org ukaffiliateprogram.net Best of luck.
I signed up with clixgalore, looks like a pretty good network. Do you guys think having a .co.uk domain will give your site more trust with Google UK above .com domains? What about having a UK host? edit: Found the answer to this question: "If your are not hosting a mission critical or a site that required lightning fast ping response, you find the best hosting deal in US as opposed to UK, but for SEO reasons, its better to host your site on a UK server with UK IP address." I am also thinking about promoting Australia affiliate offers as well. If anyone has any experience with this stuff please drop in and share your perspectives. ---- In 2005 the world's economic system is preeminently dominated by the United States, with a GDP of $11.7 trillion. The other trillionaire countries in existence today are Japan ($4.4 trillion), Germany ($2.0 trillion), China ($1.7 trillion), Britain ($1.7 trillion), France ($1.5 trillion) and Italy ($1.2 trillion)
.co.uk domains outrank .com domains in Google UK if SEO is done correctly, additionally id its hosted on UK host, then it much better. I'm also trying to get in UK market, but haven't done much research yet.
You can take a look with the affiliate program in my signature, pretty good because it offers in multiple currency. It is around the same as Clickbank. Rick
Great thread webwork. I've been meaning to post something along the line of international affiliate programs for some time on a more expanded scale. Will definitely stay tuned to this thread.
Thanks for the info Nabs, read this last night on a DP-esque UK webmaster forum too. Does anyone know any reliable UK hosts ? There's a few out there, and some of the pricing on them can be pretty high for what you get (small amount of storage space/bandwidth). I would also assume that links from .co.uk websites are going to give you more weight in Google UK when it comes to ranking. Hopefully it won't be too difficult getting these links.
I recently registered a .co.uk domain name and signed up for hosting with www.itstudiohosting.co.uk According to hostingspeeds.com they were ranked in the top, and their servers are located in the UK which is important for me as many people say it's a factor in ranking with Google UK. While prices aren't as good as USA servers, they aren't that bad, either. Installed Joomla 1.5 today, and will hopefully have some content live by the end of the week. The nice thing I have noticed about Google UK is that the competition looks to be a lot lower than regular Google. It's almost like a niche in a way...cool.
I believe that Affiliate window is by far the best UK-based affiliate network. Unfortunately for most, they charge 5 pounds to join but that goes back into your balance for the first payment - this ensures only serious marketers with serious sites get the ads on their sites, obviously improving the CTR and commission rates. Pay electronically (and paypal too I believe) after 25 pounds reached. Most big UK merchants are there.
Thanks for the recommendation on Affiliate Window, I haven't heard of them before... I put my site into hibernation for a couple of months to age the domain. I think I'm going to register a few more.
