The problem is not themes, its your ad placement.. I have blog use three column.. My traffic is not too good (around 400uv daily) but I got average 20 click/day.. Its fine i think..
I agree with the rest of the guys: the layout of your site doesn't affect your adsense earnings. Your ad placement do.
yup..ads placement is important..same to your blog layout color or graphic/picture even simple words can attract visitor eyes and cursor to came to your ads I got both 2 column and 3 column layout..I must say its depends on your creativity.. but mostly yes! one of my 2column with left sidebar giving most click than others
heh. All of my blogs are 3-column blogs and they convert wonderfully. I have to echo the sentiments of the posters above; work on your ad placement.
Hmmm - not sure about this, even though I have yet not used any three column layouts. But from my experience, I would say that the quality of traffic, the niche, and the ad positioning (folds, aggresiveness, blends) contribute to payouts from Adsense.
3 column blogs are alright for adsense as long as your adsense blends with the rest of the content and the design of the blog
here's my take: 2 column blog will give you a higher CTR compared to a 3 column blog. Higher CTR means higher earnings. I've experimented on this and my CTR doubled after switching to 2 columns. The logic? With 2 columns, they only see your blog post and sidebar ad. Your visitor has less options. Read your blog post or click the ad on the sidebar. With 3 columns, your visitor sees your blog post, an ad on your sidebar, and a list of links on another sidebar (unless you put 2 ads side by side on your sidebars). Your visitor has 3 options, read the content, click an ad on the sidebar, or click a link on another sidebar. Obviously, the one with 2 columns has a higher probability of getting ad clicks. You don't believe me? Try it for a day and switch back to your 3 column if it doesn't work.
First of all, no I don't agree. It's not about how many columns a blog has, it's the positioning of the ad and where you put it. I think most people have 3 column blogs nowadays and tons of people make money from Adsense alone.
i agree with the last commnet. If all depends on HOW you impliment it. My CTR doubled (0.74% to 1.48%) in one of my site after one change. And if you really can utilize all the space then you should make more money overall using the extra ad space.
