Hi, I have problems uploading (and also downloading) files to my servers. It goes for a few files, then it stops. I have no idea what to do. I tried at least 5 different FTP softwares, and my hostings are at different servers and providers. Can it be my internet connection? Thanks, N.
I think it may be your internet connection problem, i had faced the same problem too, have you tried flashFXP ?
No, I didn't tried flashFXP, I will. But I don't think it is problem with software, I tried so many. How did you resolved problems with your connection?
May I? First, reset your router. and/or Repair the connection. Are you running ZoneAlarm or a 3rd party firewall alongside the windows firewall? (forgive me if you're not using windows all together). Disable the Firewall for testing purposes. Turn it back on even if this works, but visit your firewalls advanced settings -> look for "file transfer program" or "port 21" or something giving you hints that its FTP related.. This could be a multitude of issues ranging from viruses (relax) to running a registry blocking program like SpyBot without knowing that it's automatically denying needed changes to your system registry upon installation (which would explain the momentary success and then your O.S. says "no more" regardless of the program you've installed)... ...No matter what FTP software you use, they all call upon the O.S. to do the dirty work.. FTP software can also be the problem in of itself...Have you tried visiting the ftp address directly from your windows?? try it! (if running windows) >>> "START" > "RUN" > type "FTP.[your_server_name_here].COM" > press enter > once the explorer window pops up, > click "FILE" > "LOGIN AS" > "[yourname]"@"ftp.[your_server].com > enter password Don't do it like this over Wifi if you can help it - The Windows built in FTP is incredibly unsecured. Again, if you don't use Windows - sorry for wasting your time. Let us know!!! .... If you're using Linux then this wouldn't be asked - and If you're using a Mac then I'd assume you've already gone out and purchased a new Mac...Hence, I assume you're a Windows user who is experiencing the ever-so-popular "my ftp works for 10 seconds" situation.
Hm, didn't think to rad ftp log at server, and even don't know where to find it? I have full access to server, where usually is ftp log?
BTW FTP is using port 21, right? What does this mean: [R] 227 Entering Passive Mode (68,178,254,205,32,128) [R] Opening data connection IP: 68.178.254.205 PORT: 8320 ?
On Windows, you can check in Event Logs. FTP is using port 21, but when going to passive mode, it can be different. Read more here http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid7_gci512897,00.html
