Hi In an earlier thread I was given some tips on valuing my website based on 3-5months income, this being a good starting point. But now I need some advise on the best places to advertise it for sale? I know all the free ads, ebay etc, Any advise would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks Dee
I think that if the website your selling is going to be sold for under $500 then digital point is your best option considering it is free. If it is over $500 then perhaps you should go with sitepoint.com however you may aswell also put an advertisement up on these forums, as you never know. I ve sold and bought many things from these forums, and not had any problems up to now Good luck, Will.
From my experience if the site is worth over $250, it is worth listing on SP and DP however if you believe it is worth less only list it on DP.
if it is an established site .. i think its to go for sitepoint.. if not, do would be a good alternative.
If you're really selling a business (that is based on a site) and not just or principally a website, you might also want to look at bizbuysell.com. They've got a category for internet businesses...
Hi everyone, thanks for your suggestions The reason I am not advertising it on here is that I would want a lot more than £500 for it, the site is page 1 across the search engines for it's targeted market, Google position 4 of 321,000 for it's main keyword and therefore has huge potential for anyone wanting to start up a rentals website, also a good friend of mine (he's really good with domains etc) stated that many people will page vast amounts of money for a well ranked site/domain, okay they maybe change the contents and theme of it or maybe even buy just to redirect it to another site, but at the end of the day I'm looking to sell I am back to my question above, what is the best way to value a site? Is 3-5 months income realistic, I was advised to start higher than that. It's hard for me to put an income price on it, because it would depend what the buyer intended to do with it, when I was using it for solely my own property rental I had a income of between £1320-£2280 per month, UK Pounds. But some rental sites charge as much as £90 a year, per property and some have listings into the hundreds, obviously the more features you offer the more you can charge, so I'm looking for a buyer who ideally can look at the ranking and see the huge potential. If anyone can help me with the pricing please send me a PM Thanks In Advance Dee
I think sitepoint's premium listing will be best. Also don't forget to keep the screenshots of your revenue and statistics of the website
Hi, that is one drawback, I don't have screenshots of my revenue, out of all the booking I've taken, only one person, well 2 have actually paid via paypal, everyone else has always paid by cheque. They had to return the booking forms and terms and conditions via post anyway because I needed a physically signature of the forms, so payment by cheque was always the way it was done. The 2 paypal payments were only at the request of the other party. I can screenshot my stats, but proof of revenue is going to be a problem. Any suggestions Dee PS Okay, the park is open March-November, so if I base the value on the potential income (I say potential, because although we could have booked the property out over and over, we sometimes stayed ourselves, so I obviously didn't take those weeks) the price would be £12,650. Finally one last question How does pricing a site on it's income work, when the buyer could choose to change the theme of the site completely? I know that a lot of the time sites are bought purely for their high ranking and therefore the amount of traffic and they can then get redirected to a site of a completely different nature or a site loaded with ads for example. In these cases how does the current income come into play? Thanks for All Your advise Dee
Thanks, so am I right that Sedo take 10%, whatever the price you set? Also are there any drawbacks with them? Dee
This forum is a good place or take out a classified ad on eBay. Either way, you already have built in traffic.
Sedo is pretty good other than taking the 10% its actually a smooth process. The person on the other end can rest assure that they aren't going to be stiff or ripped off when using sedo.
List it here and sitepoint and you should get a large amount of the market. If not i'm sure there's some business out there that will sell it for you and probably take 90% of the revenue.
