If you were to see an offer of lifetime unlimited hosting for a one off payment and you knew that the hosting company was reliable, what would be a good price to pay for this? I would like to do some research on this so any pointers would be appreciated.

I don't believe in unlimited hosting...

How much does Google spend on hosting? Probably a billion in our lifetime?

Have you check with the company life time of who? The company, the owner, the customer, the server or the datacentre?

Basically life time unlimited is quite extreme, maintenance costs and data centre as well as bandwidth costs are paid monthly, for life time even if you factor in the NPV, it is going to cost a lot of money. Unlimited is even worse, even seen an unlimited hard disk?

I would suggest $0, look for something more realistic.

A reliable hosting company won't sell one time payment hosting. But if the resources given are very small, then probably make sense. For instance, 100mb disk space and 500mb monthly transfer.

now more than 3 contradicting words in 1 sentence mean its more trouble and ending is going to be uglier than with 2 contradicting words ;)

nice boobs, whose are they and can we see more, lol. lifetime hosting, no such thing. I have paid for a few things that were supposed to be lifetime. problem is they can not guarantee they will stay in business that long. And as said, whose lifetime. Most small business's die with their owners. Sadly, most do not make it that long. Lifetime hosting is a hook to get you to sign and pay a premium. They can not guarantee this. Actually, I am surprised they are offering it. Are they in the U.S. It sounds like a lawsuit or not legal.

Even 'if' the company was good as gold I would not trust it.

One main thing that gets a company jumping, to fix problems, work with you, etc is the prospect of your continued business, your continued payments.

If they know they are not going to see a single dime from you, do you honestly think they will do their absolute best?

I pay thousands a year for my servers, cost is not as important as reliability.
