That's it. I'm done with giving Google prime real estate for pennies.

I have given it time, used filters, written content, driven traffic...and the pennies that I get from adsense is ridiculous.

Why should I put their code on prime real estate, when I can put my own affiliate banners there and at least make a [definite] percentage of the sale?

I will still use it in my feed, and at the end of posts, but as far as on the main page...they are sooooo done:mad:

I am tired of seeing competitors pay me .05 a click. Yet iyt is such a small niche', that filtering them, gives me unrelated ads and lower prices.

The parties over. Adsense is not for me.

You have a VERY nice site. I don't blame you one bit. 5 cents is stealing traffic.

I've had this frustration with Google in the past. Although, I think "Prime Real Estate" is probably not a small niche anymore. The ad payout on that term is probably very diluted. One thing we did in the past to fix this was tweak our keywords (not our website topic) and more relevant ads began to appear. But Google does pay good money, you just need to figure out how it can work for you. Good luck!

My niche is not "Prime Real Estate". I meant the space on my first page that I have designated for ads, but I don't think that my niche is high paying enough anyway, and it was probably a waste to even include adsense, but I never imagined that I would still not be making a decent PPC by now.

    Same ads..same prices.

This is the same decision I made. It is also why I started using audio ads. Google just did not pay much for me anymore. :(

Well, the amount of traffic needed to make a decent check from it, would be better directed at something that actually pays real money.
May as well send those clicks to a niche' related affiliate program where I make more per sale.
Sure, the conversions may be less, because it's not "per click", but at least you get a far amount when it does convert, rather than just sending people to another site, and making nothing if it converts over there.

I'm also considering dumping Google. Just not worth it.

I could get other sites to have ads that will pay way more then what I'm making with adsense.

If adsense is not doing well for a niche, then it is a smart move to find ways to monetize your site better. Adsense is not for every niche or website.

Obviously not good for mine, and I'm sick of it. That space is better used for something else.
I put a temporary banner up, just because I am tired of looking at a 250 x 300 that pays me .38 a day.
    It's bull!
    Nothing else pays that low.

Well as an adword user i can just tell you i pay conent newwork scrap. Google place me on Kurdish MP3 sites all the time even if i have ENGLISH and USA and a PREF. When they do that and not place me on quailty site like yours you just pay scrap. See it from ADWORD side as well but i agree with you i have Adsense as well.

Yeah. I get crap ads. And it burns me up to see Yahoo, and The Yellow Pages, on my site, yet I know they are paying .05 a click.

The only ad that is constantly on my site, is industry related, but I am an affiliate of them and I would rather go for the commission, rather than the lousy nickel of so, that I get from sending people there, and then getting no commission.

I'm using my own ads, from here on out. Google can't (and won't) pay me more than I can pay myself.

Unfortunetly it has become whipping a dead horse to a many publishers.

They reserve now days their best payment to premier publishers and sites, with the likes of the rest punted as nuisense value in the long run.

I have always stated become your own ad agent for yourself, become your own googleadsense.

Get a site up and running with a great alexa and traffic then sell space.

Go have a look at shoemoney advertising rates, although he has taken the prices down..he was selling space on the right bar in " a b c" formats ..some of them like $6000 per month...with advertisers lined up as he never seems to have empty space.
Not many people get that from adsense.

Wake up peoples for the majority the game is over, unless you are in a third world country a $100 check is months and months wages perhpas BUT fpor the majority of us it is filling our petrol tanks with gas only.

IT will only improve when and when MSN YAHOO get their lazy arsed game in order

if you have a site that you can promote affiliate products with or have your own product, then there is no reason for using adsense on it. i only use adsense on sites where there is no real product to promote

Good to hear another publisher who will not settle for less. Adcents has been pushing the limit for publishers since Jan 1 2008. I switched a lot of my above the fold impressions for cpm ads too, adcents is just paying me pennies with their reduced click area combo. it's a big rip off.

Before, when i hear "don't put all your eggs in one basket" i would just laugh and say to myself "like i have a choice ...". Now I understand if i look hard enough and willing to try different network, i can actually put diff eggs in diff baskets. It's just adcents isn't giving me the $ so that i have nothing to loss when trying other networks. I encourage other publishers to do so too.

At this rate, i found the walmart motto 'everyday low prices' suits google better than their 'do no evil' motto.

I only allot 10% of my ad space to Adsense.

Interestingly enough, the money actually went up when I purposely reduced my impressions.

I'm a lot happier doing CPM ads. More consistent pay.

At least it's nice to know that I am not just a whining baby. The only reason I gave it a shot s because it was suggested, but I have always had reservations, just from reading others in the forums...after 6 months, I can honestly say, "I gave it a shot, and it's B@LL SH*T!"

The party is definitely over, if you are not a 2 year old publisher, and I am not willing to wait a year or so to get better ads on my site, when there are many other options out there that pay better.

Dude, basically your niche doesn't pay enough.

I did the same but now I'm revisiting Adsense after staying away for a couple of years.

Why? Because it's the best for a consistent and steady income and provides a nice mix of ads for those people who don't want to buy Clickbank ebooks.

The difference is that I'm going to start in a higher paying niche that is still broad enough to provide some long term diversification.
