You will get a link (I have in the past). These types of posts may expire after a year or so (so I have heard) but I am nit sure how true that is.

Yahoo answer can be counted as your site backlinks but I'm not sure if it can give credit to your site.

Yes, this is a technique that a lot of link builders use... it gets you a backlink, it drives traffic to your site, etc. Just make sure that your answers are helpful.

AFAIK, links in answers submitted to Yahoo Answers are nofollowed. You may get some traffic, but I doubt if a link in Yahoo Answers will help your rankings.

Just imagine the amount of spam that would be posted on Yahoo Answers if the links weren't nofollowed.

Yahoo Answers are "nofollow" links that provided no benefit except for any direct traffic they may produce.

All links on yahoo answer are nofollow. So you are not going to get any link value from Yahoo answer from Google prospective. People use Yahoo answer for traffic generation.

There are several forums which does not have nonfollow tag! You may increase your back links with posting in those forums. You may add your links in signature and you also may give reference in the last of your post! It is very easy to build links through social forums. And the biggest advantage of social forum links is, these links not only increase your search engine ranking but also send more traffic towards your site. ;)

Yahoo answers use no follow tag for live links. Secondly, if you post the same link few times, I think you will get banned :(

You can only get traffic from there.

Right. Yahoo answers have nofollow. I use it only for traffic and in the meantime I'm not banned for the links. Yet, I do not place link on my homepage, but on the website page where there might be indeed some answers (or some tips). Some answers were even chosen "best answers" :) Don't know for how long it will last, however, there is some traffic from yahoo. At least, i think so.
