I believe this is the solution to all 'OMG GOOGLE PR CHANGED!' threads - when did Yahoo!'s pagerank drop? This is important, because the amount of PR10, PR9, and PR8 pages, if and when they drop, will cause a chain reaction for the whole internet's PR to change. Yes, even if its just one site (i.e. Yahoo!) that changed. I have done some simulations to prove that even if one site large enough that drops (probably due to manual inteferences), its enough to affect the entire interwebs. I believe these 'Google dances' ... are caused by large sites with high PRs being changed (maybe because their backlinks expired, and stuff like that), and not due to algorithm changes. It's more like.. housekeeping
Nope. Yahoo!'s and MSN's PR dropped to 9. PR 10s are (most definitely, with a 90% confidence) manually adjusted.
Stating the obvious much? LOL. I believe (and have as well, statistical evidence) that Google PR are constantly updating. But the way the chain was built, it seems to come in waves.
this is not surprising because Yahoo mostly uses subdomains for all its services as opposed to Google which brings all its services under its google.com
Last Google update , Yahoo PR changed to 9 , Yesterday I check Google.com , It dropped to 9 TO ! ( Is it true ?! )
I don't think MSN or Yahoo mind this at all given that Page Rank is a Google invention. It would make sense for them to participate or even show any anxiety over it, given that they are giants in this own rights.
Not a matter of anxiety. Its a matter of affecting global PRs. If MSN, Yahoo, or any big sites get demoted, it'll cause a wave of visible PR change (that's what they call the 'Google Dance') Still no definite date?
I've recorded Yahoo's pagerank for sometime now. Apparently, it was PR10 for about a few months. Dec 2006: 9 Jan 2007: 9 April 2007: 10 July 2007: 10 Oct 2007: 9 Jan 2008: 9 Feb 2008: 9 The number of PageRank 10 sites have also fallen steadily, with about less than 10 (legit) PR10 sites around.
