1st page on Google but no sales...

I have a squidoo lens that is currently on the 1st page of Google for terms like

'how to get a six pack'

    'get a six pack'

I also get good positions in Yahoo.

Some times its as high as position 3 and 4. Although it has dropped slightly this week. I'm getting around 700 visits a week now and quite a few clicks on the hops.

Am I promoting the product wrong? Or is the Clickbank product page not up to scratch. I just don't know. Maybe Squidoo has too many distractions for people to click out. Could anyone suggest any alterations I could make?

but a banner of your ad in between with your clcik bank link in it you will be getting some more hops i can say

as banner usually attracts more visitors to click

this squidoo page tell you how to
    create a centered banner

    http://www.squidoo.com/basichtml

    or here the code
    <a href="http://www.yoursite.com/thepageyouwanttolinkto.html" ><img src="http://www.yoursite.com/squidoo/yourimage.jpg" border="0"></a>
    Code (markup):
were you can upload you image the banner at photbucket or some other website

and put your link clickbank link

Squidoo has too many distractions, as you can see there are ppc ads

there and those ones have being there for some time meaning this

    keyword is profitable.

    Thats my view

Exactly! I have set up a website and it is much more better optimized than my seo. The site is 2 months old. The site has 20 backlinks, most are from PR4-PR7 sites...

However, my squidoo is ranked #1 for a certain keyword, my website is ranked # 19495968 ...

put more links at the top of the page, most people do not like to read too much or scroll down.

I also promote the same product. I will tell you one thing andy, that product has driven me crazy. Somedays people buy it, and some days they don't. There are days when I make 5-6 sales/day, and days when I make 1-2. The truth about abs is not very steady. I'm sure some would disagree, but as long as it is still bringing in sales, I am happy with it. With your source of traffic you definitley should be getting a lot of sales for it. That is a very targeted review! However I would recommend you start your own website, and promote it that way. Doing it this way will give you more hops etc..

True but I am starting to see a well optimized Wordpress climb the serps and it may end up replacing many of my Squid pages. You may want to consider something similar.

I like to treat squidoo pages as funnels to my main affiliate review site, I don't have one clickbank hoplink in any one of my squidoo pages, they all go to my various affiliate sites then I can presell them without any of the distractions like adsense and what ever that is on the squidoo page, this way you get much more targeted traffic which should mean better conversions.

Should squidoo ever decide to penalise any body with a clickbank hoplink in their pages (which someone mentioned on this forum that Hubpages are starting to do) then you will be safe as you links will only go to your review page.

Nice informative squid page you have too!

Good advice ... another reason why I am focusing on other platforms or CMS just incase squid pulls the plug on various aff links.

But anyhow getting back to the original post I have various keywords for say one product. Many are in the first 5 results on google. Some are converting well others are just 'tire kickers'

I get most sales from ppc.. some from bum marketing, and email marketing. I am just starting to learn more and more about email marketing. A lot of my success has come from trial and error. You just have to try as many things as you can, and you will eventually get sales daily.

And once you find that one thing, you can choose to tell everyone about it, or keep it to yourself.

You can use Squidoo for backlinks, but don't use their lenses as your main page for the product.

Nice lens i would try and put a text link or two higher up though i feel they are perhaps too far down the page.

Definitely need to have your own website and start to make use of some analytics to see just what people are doing when they visit your site. And doing some 'funneling' would sure help.
