Is there any possibility of DMOZ accept subdomains listing? Have yet to try, but given that even normal domains have so much difficult getting listed, just want to check if any of you succeed in listing your subdomains in DMOZ?
It is the exception rather then the rule, and is purely based on the whim of the editor that happens across it. There are categories that have individual articles/pages from a site listed, other categories would [likely] never list a single page. Sub-domains likely have a greater chance of being listed over a single page though. If you have a subdomain that you would like listed, then simply submit it. Your wait time will likely be that of any other site... sometime between now and never. I suspect that your chances will be best if your subdomain acts like a site in and of itself...
Good lord Christopher, we have been through all this. You wonder why I call your advice shaky. Its all about unique content. A site with lots and lots of unique content is is going to have a greater chance of getting multiple listings. Not neccesarily. Think unique content. There may be an element of truth in this (well done Q) but it is not about pretending that a site is something that it is not.
it is still the whim of the editor. Besides, I'm paraphrasing the actual guidelines that do state it's the exception rather then the rule. So again, why do you keep saying the rules are shaky? Pretty soon people are going to start believing you...and then NO ONE will bother reading the guidelines.
My, I have such bizzare discussions with you Christopher. From the guidelines that you are such a whiz on... There go those words again unique and content. Nothing about whims at all. You are not paraphrasing you are propagating misinformation.
OMG... read your own quote! Then read the bottom of the ADD page about editor discretion... it's ALL about whim. Would it not have been better to agree with what I said, as it WAS correct according to the very rules you gave! And simply have expanded on what I said? Now you give me room to expand on why I didn't bother with Unique content (which should be a given, taking the rest of the guidelines into account). I just deleted three quarters of this post to not completely kill the thread. Though, feel free to reply. But take note, I am done with your hateful trolling, in fact, I'm done with most of the two faced editors on this Site.
Q: I've previously explained to you that the Topix listings are the result of a collaboration between the owners of ODP and Topix. Their presence in the directory isn't any kind of a precedent. They don't prove whatever point you're trying to make when you're clutching for evidence. They aren't an example of editorial abuse.
I deleted much of my post above, as to not take this too far from the mark, but in a thread about subdomains maybe Topix should be the precedent. And it certainly does prove that it's more whim, then about unique content.
Sorry Christopher, but if quietly pointing out misconceptions in your posts about the ODP is "hateful trolling" then I am guilty as charged.
I really doubt that the DMOZ owner/Topix collaboration was a whim. Your thinking it's so doesn't make it true.
You are correct. it was well thought out in that instance of it being an "exception" Thank you for pointing out that a lot of time and effort had to go into the thousands of automated (non-human) Topix listings within the "worlds largest human edited directory" where "humans do it better". There was no real editor involvement what so ever on those listings, it was the whim of a robot
