Just wondering if the keyword bidding prices are similar or is Adwords more expensive because it is supposedly "better"? I'm planning on doing some YSM soon....
i only can tell from my experience and from what i hear from people i know (which may not be the general statement for al niche) that Y! cost 1/3 of G. however, most niche convert low due to worthless clicks from their partner sites. some niche convert better than adwords tho. you just have to be lucky with a niche or have knowledge which niche that converts and how to convert them
The YPN program is filled with bot traffic. They did a crap job of building their click fraud detection system so the bulk of your clicks are goign to be non-productive.
I use all search, and I think Yahoo converts better than Google, and MSN converts better than both of them, even though the traffic is low.
Adwords is not better... it costs high just because of advrtiseer competition... its much high than yahoo or google... in quality adCenter is the best... and offers good conversions....... although the traffic is less
Y! is usually cheaper thatn Google, but I usually spend more per month at Y! becuase I have better conversions there.
I feel adCenter is much cheaper than YSM and adwords because they charge just $5 for sign up and you get $75 FREE.
I use both. Google is much better for my niche, but I would not remove my ads from Yahoo. They are maybe one tenth the cost, but more productive. Not enough volume to support my site. Google seems to be a bit of a rip as extra $$$ do not coonvert.
What do you think about the Yahoo directory, its like 300 for a year, but I am so confused how I should market, directories, ad words, yahoo search. I have a sort of limited budget since I am still in development on my site, its enormous in size, a social networking community and there are only 2 employees (me and Me), LOL. I need to spread the word, but in a way that I can still keep a roof over my head. Thanks for the advice, and goodluck to all of yoU! --Katina
Well for a social networking site, you need word of mouth to go critical. Figure out what the unique aspect to your social networking site is, go to other social networking sites and ask people if they would be willing to try out your site. To get an initial core of people signing up you could offer a competition and prizes, though clearly your site will need to be compelling enough that they will stick around for more than just the prizes. Ppc can get very expensive very quickly, I would advice against it unless you have deep pockets or you have a way of monetizing your site already.
I just started using adwords, seems quite more expensive than yahoo's overture, which I'm using for 1 year already and I'm satisfied with their traffic, but it's true - disable always the "content network search" ---------------------------------------------------------- NCAA 2008 Men's Final Four Tickets — April 5-7, San Antonio ncaafinalfourtickets.googlepages.com
well... um.. actually thats wrong... google`s content network is a miracle compared to YSM`s content match which is total garbage. But unless you dont know how to use google`s conent network yet so yes, disable it for now but keep in mind that content network can bring you some high quality traffic if you play your cards right
I've been using YSM, both content match and sponsored search, but I don't see the difference if you setup the maximum bid amount for the content match. I think using both, your ad is more exposed to get more clicks. Or am I wrong?
