57 Clicks 0 Conversion... Is this normal?

    How many clicks do you get before that 1st conversion?
    Should I dump this campaign and start a new one or should I wait?

    This is my first ever campaign in affiliate marketing and in adwords. Anyone who can give me tips will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance :)

    There's no standards actually. You might get conversion right after 1st click or after few dozens of clicks.
    And it depends on a lots of factors. I think you shouldn't wait. You should test till you get conversions.

    Could be the keyword, or it could be the website. Or it could be the nature of the business - if you sell houses or boats, then a 0.2% conversion rate would probably be highly profitable.

    It's not enough data to work out your site's conversion rate, to be honest.

    I think you need to wait a bit longer. Do you know what sort of conversion rate you need to break even?

    I have had that problem quite a lot, think the secret is to make the add really specific and keep away from less mainstream ppc providers.

    Why don't you show us your landing page

    I like to use 1% as a base line to figure out numbers then adjust based on real world events.

    So that means it should take about 100 clicks to make 1 sale.

    If your conversion rate drops past 0.50% I consider this a problem unless it is still possible to remain profitable.

    Number of clicks doesn't matter, it's your roi that does. What is your target roi for this campaign?

    Figure that out first, then you can set your max spend per keyword. Once you hit your max spend per keyword, you either keep it going, (if it converts at your target roi or better), or pause it if it doesnt'.

    Here's an example:

    Target ROI: 100%
    Spend To Make: $1 to make $2
    Maximum Spend Per Keyword: $12.50
    Maximum Bid at 2.5% conversion rate: $0.31

    Most people don't even think of that when starting their campaigns. It should be your first step.

    Maybe you're right. What's a targeted keyword and any example?

    @santhana
    Thats a lot of clicks. Did the expense make up for the sale?

    @ppc-coach
    Very informative post. I'll think about it.

    I dont know about a normal site, but with adult sites most of my conversions were around 1:500, so 1:60 isnt bad at all :p

    The biggest problem with adult is the surfer is never in buying mode, so you've got a real steep hill to climb. They're always looking for free stuff. The solution is go with free trials, but then it's hard finding any that would pay enough to counter the bids you need. I used to do adult years ago, but stopped when I realized how much easier it is to sell to someone who is actually looking to buy!

    :)
