Hi, Im starting a new Charity website, where charitys can create an account and add events etc... normal site users can then search for events etc... I realy need a logo, and dont have cash to spend, (im selling 2 sites already to get the money to start this) I can however offer 6 months enterprise hosting @ manobanweb. The name is Irish Charity events The logo needs to be orange, or green. The rest is up to you. I hope you will help out, Regards Adam
Wow... I would buy that domain RIGHT NOW since you have just told that world that you don't own it. Buy it before some enterprising DP member tries to buy it first and sell it to you for a lot more then the $7.50 it costs to buy. (Why would you do this?)
hehe. ya Not a good idea to post the name of a domain that you don't own yet in a thread. there are many eager DP members that will look at that as an opportunity to make a quick $20 selling it back to you
I wont buy it, and if someone here does buy it there little greedy *****, This site will be helping children in Africa. Anyway we will probaly apply for a .IE domain
Quick question about the prize - We get to pick the URL for the domain, right? Looking for a paid host for my portfolio.
I'm a little confused as to the difference between a domain and hosting. I thought it was the same thing? And just out of curiosity, say I bought a template from TemplateMonster.com, which of the things mentioned above - domain / hosting - would let me have my own URL with the template? In any case I will be entering the contest, just want a bit of knowledge regarding this issue
the domain is just like "xfactor.com" or "xfactor.net". the template is what viewers see when they visit your website. Both of thoses are useless however if you don't have hosting. Pretty much, the 'domain' and the 'template' are 'hosted' on a server. Thats what is being offered, the space on the server where your domain and template will reside. now some hosting company's do offer sub-domain names (domain.hostsite.com) for you to use if you do not have your own domain name. Thats just a basic overview... It is a little more complicated then that, and I'm not a master on the subject...
Wow that's a slightly more complicated answer than I was looking for. Basically I'm looking for a yes-or-no question, lol. "If I win this contest, can I upload my template and get my own www._____.com site?" is basically my question.
no. you have to own your own domain. but they are only $10 at www.godaddy.com (get 3 dollars off with coupon code OYH3)
