DP sig links - good or bad?!

    Noticed an interesting fact that other day - all of the sites that are in my DP sig lost all of their PR (despite having a number of solid PR pages pointing towards them)

    Has anybody else noticed issues with links to their sites in DP signatures? I've now switched the sites in my sig over to new ones that aren't going to be 'damaged' - it remains to be seen whether the other sites regain their PR or not...

    One factor that I'm wondering would impact it is the fact that I do hang out in the link sales forum quite a bit (I know, naughty me... ;) ) Still, I can't see how G would be able to create an algorithm that would single out the links in my signature because of this

    Is paranoia getting the better of me?!

    No idea if it affect your PR, but I do notice that despite how many links I "get", the DP sig links are the majority of the links that Google counts for my sites.

    I don't see how you could've lost PR when putting your link in your sig will gain you backlinks.

    Yeah I highly doubt its your sig links that ruined your PR. Google wont penalize you for incoming links, as far as I know!

    How do you check for such backlinks? I check on Google Search and can't really find many back links, not a single DP backlink.

    DP signature links are definitely good imo. Further, I see a lot of backlinks for my site from dp got indexed by the google when I have other vast resources. That shows how google values the dp links. Further it will help you to increase your PR and SERP if you used your anchor text properly.
    The popularity of DP can be owed in part to the number of backlinks (four) it offers free for every post you make.

    Not sure that DP is the reason, why your rankings drop but I'm sure that DP always help when it comes to quantity of search engine indexed and give more backlinks.

    Thanks for all the opinions - I have to say, I always fell in to the 'the worst they can do for you is nothing at all' camp until now.

    Let's hope the new sig links get the benefit then - I'll update this post if my PR comes back on the original sites!

    I don't think that Google penalized your websites because DP links... but I'm pretty sure that this is the fault of payd links
