Hosting A Proxy

I am looking for a low cost server that I can use to host a proxy. If anyone knows of any good hosting companies that allow proxies, please let me know.

I was looking at some that wwere high $XX-$XXX. I currently have everything else hosted with Host Gator, but because I'm just using it for a proxy, I don't really want to pay that much.

What is the purpose of your proxies?

 

well you can get a 64mb vps plan. put lighttpd on it with php and you are ready to roll. Such vps u can get for 5$ already when you re lucky.

lighttpd is too slow with php pages so that's a bad idea.

 

but it doesn't consume much memory. with php-fcgi is not that slow..

 

In my experience lighttpd is much slower than apache when it comes to php pages even with php fcgi.

good support and good for proxy environment.

And if you're saying HG is not letting you run proxy to their fullest resource, then I'd say your proxy can still run under proxy optimized shared hosting environment, no dedi needed yet because those type of selelrs like HG, GD, DH and etc..do not like proxies and limt resources.

how much traffic are your proxies getting and what proxy script?

They provide cheap, but reliable and fast VPS.
Set up around 4-12 hours, but for me was 7 hours.

I highly suggest logging your proxy traffic, as a lot can be fraudulent
