I realize that content iw what will be that drive readers toward a website in the long term and also which secures a loyal reader base, however I'm also looking into short term methods that would jumpstart a new website. I'm creating a video game website (with news, reviews, previews, editorials, etc) and I don't know if PPC advertising would be of any advantage for a website like mine as in bringing in some targeted traffic in numbers large enough to warrant the price? Also, are there any other forms of pay-for advertising services out there that work better than googles service and might of use to me? Thanks!
Hi Gentile, You can use PPC to get some traffic, but I strongly urge you to build an opt in list while doing it. If you have not already, set-up a newsletter that includes some news/reviews etc and write to your list a few times a week. It takes time to build a brand and loyal following, but building a targeted list is an important step for this. You can view some video tutorials on building a list via my sig below. Have you considered posting in video game forums like you're doing here? You can leave your URL as your sig and drive some free and targeted traffic in this way. RE more detailed PPC, I've sent you a PM that I hope will assist you. Let me know if I can help further ok?
As you said that your site is very new, so in this case your site will take time to get visibility on organic listing which is a great source of relevant traffic. So, it would be good for you to start Google Adwords/ PPC program to get immediate visibility, traffic & sales for your site. Till the time try to get your site listed in organic search results (By white hat SEO only). Let me know if you have further query on it..( I am a Google Adwords Certified individual) so may be i can help you with my experience..
