I know GRIM would probably love this thread :)

Well I've been going to the gym for the past month and some time next week I'm getting a year long membership.

I know I'm not lifting impressive numbers right now but keep in mind I'm still only 15. I also know that everyone is different but I'm wondering how long you figure it you take to significantly increase the weight I'm lifting and how often I should be working out.

    Approx. what I'm doing now.

    Bench Press: 4 Sets - 10 Reps - 100lbs
    Barbell Curls: 4 Sets - 10 Reps - 45lbs
Dumbbell shoulder Press: 4 Sets - 10 Reps - 27.5lb (Yes, they exist.)
    Lateral Pull down: 4 Sets - 10 Reps - 90lbs

Well I'm not about to list every single thing I work on but feel free to suggest some new exercises.

What are your goals? Are you looking to add muscle, strength, ect? If you let me know I can suggest some routines.

I notice you don't have any lower body exercises listed. Add in some squats and deadlifts.

Adding muscle and strength is exactly what I'm after. I wanna "get ripped :p".

Lower body I've beer doing leg press at around 250lbs.

If I don't do dead lifts properly can't I throw out my back?

    15 years old?
    Stop lifting weights.
You should go swimming or something like that, is much better for your health.
When you're 17 or 18 then you should go to the gym. ;)

First things first. You're going to have to educate yourself. Here's some good links.

Here's a rundown of a good routine for beginners. It's StrongLifts 5×5 Beginner Program

    Basic Training Primer

    Strength Training Ebook

Strength and Power FAQ Check out the entire strength and power forum and their Diet forum

    The 7 Habits of Highly
    Effective Nutritional Programs

Here's a great article (with vids) Mastering the Deadlift: Part III The first 2 parts of the article are linked at the top of the article.

Read all that info, replace leg presses with squats, add in some deadlifts, and pick one of the beginning routines and you will have a great start. You should be able to gain strength and muscle fairly quickly, because you're new to lifting.

    Don't listen to that.

    For legs
    Do some squats.
    Dead lifts are good too

    Chest:
-Make sure you do inclined bench press.
-Decline is good but i never liked it.
-Use dumbbells for your bench press every once in a while if not all the time.

    I can't list em all

    go here:
    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm

This site is awesome. When i was 15 i got my bench press max from 150 lbs to 200 lbs in 2-3 weeks doing my football routine.
Ill try and get it for you

Thanks for the tips and information Hodgedup & ardit217.

One thing that I have heard though is that squatting at too young of an age can stunt the grow of the muscle in your leg. Sure it will get bigger, but it won't get longer.

I have been doing incline press as well, vertically and at about a 45 degree angle. Haven't tried decline, but apparently you can use a heavier weight.

And Jarodboy, I see where your coming from but 15 (almost 16) seems like a pretty decent age to start.
