I'm using adwords own conversion tracking to track lead conversions. I'm doing a lot of sales off of the content network and I'm wondering if anyone is using any reliable 3d party software to track what domains the content sales are coming from. I don't want to use adwords own tracking for that as I need to track lead conversions with it... I tried ppseer.com, but was less than thrilled with the results (wasn't even close to tracking it right, anyone else had a similar experience?). Are there other similar solutions that anyone has tried?
what is wrong with googles placement report? It tells you exactly what web page the lead was made from
there`s such a thing?? can you please tell me where`s it?? i cant find it, do i need to have a content network campaign to view it???
yes you need a content network campaign. Login to your account and goto Reports >>> Create Report >>> and then select Placement Performance report. select your content campaign and other variables and run the report. You will get the pages that converted to leads. The report has a lag time and I noticed you can only get data from about 2 - 4 days prior. You cant get next data stats.
well like I mentioned, I use google's own conversion tracking to track lead conversion, and I need to keep it that way as it gives me the fastest feedback to what's actually working. Sales may take several months to get a significant numbers from a certain domain, so I'd like to use a 3d party tracking software to run in the background and gather data over time. But it's not looking like there's anything out there (besides crappy ppseer)
thanks man xD but say... is there a "manual site choosing" for google adwords content network?? I mean, i go around picking sites and the ones that i wanna my ad to be shown at so there`s the only place that it`ll be shown? tony
I've got one I'm releasing to my members soon. It tracks keywords down to the second the sale was made and includes the referring site for the content network.
keyword means nothing in content. If you read and speak with google on this issue a keyword is selected at random from within the adgroup. We also have proprietary software that tracks clicks, URL, keyword and etc on content but we have discovered that drill down to the keyword will not shed any insight to the adgroup performance
Yes its called placement targeting however not all content members are opted in to the placement targeting program. If you look at your PPR report and not site xyz.com is converting often and you want to target it, create a placement target campaign and target that site within the settings. If you start to get impressions then they are on the placement network, if no impressions then they are only opted into the content network
what to you mean by "not all content members are opted in to the placement targeting program"... Cant i just create a placement targeted content network campaign (or modify my search network campaign to be also a placement targeted campaign) and just put the sites that i want my ads to be shown on (only in those sites) and launch me campaign?? btw, what do you mean by "we" in your posts?...
placement targeting is an opted in option from adsense members. The sites offering content targeting can exclude placement targeting if they want. No there is no search network or content options when creating a placement targeted campaign. When I say WE I mean the agency and people I work with.
Actually tracking the keyword WILL give you all the insight you need since one keyword is arbitrarily assigned ONCE to the adgroup. So you can treat that keyword as the adgroup for tracking. If you've run any content network campaigns you would know this.
Ive actually spoken with the programmer who designed the content network in person, so I have a clear understanding of how it works. Secondly I have a dedicated Google content specialist at my beck and call to answer any questions I have.
um... but lets say i have an adgroup for "butterfly tattoo" if i run it on normal content network will it also add it to sites that sell like... i dunno... dried butterflies or something?? :/ and is there an option to check on what sites did it put my ad`s in and remove the unneccecery ones?? and usually how many sites does one adgroup distrebuted to?
Big deal if you have an account manager, who doesn't, (I've got 3 at my "beck and call", do I win?). The difference is I have no bosses telling me what to do. I use my own funds, not clients money. I am the boss, I work for myself, I have the best boss in the world, (me). Second I don't care if you do know the person who designed the content network, (like it wasn't a whole department...LOL). I know Patrick Swayze but that doesn't mean I can "dirty dance". Anyhow, back to the topic, if you had an adgroup for "butterfly tatoo" on the content network then google is going to attach a theme to your adgroup and base the sites it shows your ads on, on that theme. So if it determines that butterflies is the theme, then yes, you may have your ads shown on the "dried butterflies" site. You can do a placement report to see which sites your ads are showing and you can exclude sites you don't want your ads showing on.
