edit: Sorry missed thread title. I don't know a great deal about cameras but 12megapixels would only be good if you plan to print the photos etc. Sending them online would make the file enormous with 12mp.
he's asking if the Camera is good or not.. I know nothing about cameras so I can't give you my opinionQ
Frankly it is more than enough, quite an overkill, I don't think human vision can distinguish anything above 5 megapixels. So yes it is a good camera.
No it's not a good camera - the 8 and 12mp is by interpollation - this is only a 5mp camera.. It also only has a 8x digital zoom, so this mean nothing (you can also zoom in a photo-editing program). You have to check if it has an optical zoom as that is the only 'real' zoom without losing quality. I wouldn't spend more than $50 on it, and it's only good use is ie to make pictures to put on ebay, ... don't expect to make nice photographs when you go on holiday, .. with this. When shopping for cameras: everything in a compact camera has a small sensor so when you go over 6 or 8 mp you get loss of quality.. and you only need those high mp's if you want to print pictures on A3 or larges sizes. You'll be better to shop for a 5 or 6 mp camera with good optical zoom.
Everything that Mr.Flippers says is true. It sounds like garbage. Stay away from it. If you want a cheap (but useful) camera, get a cheap 5MP little 'zoomy' Canon or Nikon snapshot camera instead.
I would go for less pixels but bigger screen, i'm not a professional photographer so i want to enjoy my gadget not the photos
