I receive the majority of my traffic from Google (about 85%) Id like to optimize my Search Results from Live and Yahoo. What are some basic ways to do this? My site is a wordpress blog and it is updated daily for a niche topic. Thanks
It's hard to optimize for a particular search engine. There's even a danger that you could hurt you rankings in Google. It's better to use general techniques that apply to all three search engines. By the way, getting 85% of your traffic from Google shouldn't concern you. A lot of sites get most of their traffic from Google. It's not unusual at all.
Google and yahoo have different algorithms that's what makes it hard to optimize for the both of them. You will get much more traffic from google than you would in yahoo if you have the same ranking for the same search word. Maybe you should try to focus on building some more backlinks, it may help you to rank higher in yahoo and live?
Thanks for the tips, Are there anyway to ping Live or Yahoo for updated content? or place for me to submit my sitemap? i read that its supposed to make it easier for search engines to crawl your site for new, relative content
http://www.searchenginejournal.com/the-importance-of-keywords-meta-tag-in-seo/6014/ This article shows how Yahoo still looks at Meta Keywords. I have found that MSN is heavy on the number of inbound text links (not taking PR into the theory), Example, my signature has "Seattle web design" as a text link, we should be #1, or in top spots.

I find it is more about quantity than PR. A few good links with good PR will be good for Google, I find in MSN eyes it is only a few links. The problem is, getting many links to suit MSN may highlight the spam filter for Google.
