Heya, I just got massive emails from all the eBay sites i am working with that they are going for their own Publishers network.. :/ Hmm is this good or not? :/ Does this mean higher commissions or something? Plus an extra question. Do you prefer Campaigns to run under an Affiliate Network or by their own (in house networks)? Cya, NwS
A lot will depend on how they payout... ach, Xach, cheque ??? It also means that BANS and BayRSS will need to be updated... looks like there will be lots going on in the next 6 weeks
I received emails from eBay as well stating this. I am wondering if it will make it easier to be accepted into the eBay US program. I work with in house programs in addition to CJ, and I haven't experienced any problems with them. The checks are always on time and the commission updates are timely. I am thinking about purchasing BANS, so I am thinking maybe I should wait until April when I have the new eBay links instead of my CJ links????
I hope that the transition will be smooth. Like, NO new parameters to add to links, perhaps they will even support "&PID=..." for a while. This is the point where I am glad that my code is simple to update..! P.S. Surely heads will roll at CJ - can you IMAGINE how big a chunk of revenue they are losing by losing this account?!
Wow this is huge news, I think we may see better reporting with less delays than right now. Very curious to see the payout structure.
sounds good to me. Now you can target all countries not just UK and US. I wonder if my commission is moved over?
Personally I'm pissed...this is the one converting merchant I have found so far in my forays into affiliate marketing (haven't started too recently) and thanks to it I went from zero to three bars in CJ in a month and was counting on it to keep going to open more doors there in terms of other affiliate programs that only let people with a certain number of bars in. I too hope the update is as simple as changing the tracking URL or something. I have a bunch of static pages with their Editor Kit code on it (not BANs) and they're all different search queries. Let me tell you, those Editor Kits are NOT fun to put together since eBay's widget creator sucks hard.
I think it will be better overall, even if commissions don't change there is probably less of a chance of tracking errors and report delays. This says it all. • Easy global registration to multiple countries simultaneously • New, targeted banners and rich media creatives • New landing page optimization and geo-targeting capabilities • More detailed reporting capabilities for eBay’s programs
MY experience with eBay directly has been spotty at best. I just hope there are real people that answer the phone when we have issues. Right now, I'm making about $1,500 a month on eBay through CJ...I REALLY hope that doesn't change at all.
I think its a bit curious myself - now we all have to rely on ebay with no CJ as a mediator - I wonder if we will see a drop in commisions or a hike? and how long it might last? Not that I am questioning the morals of the BAY
Why wait 2 weeks to get a project underway? By that time your sites will be indexed and possibly getting some minor traffic. I'm sure it will be a minor fix to transfer a BANS store to the new affiliate program since it's just a script you plug numbers into. Don't fall into the trap many affiliates do in waiting for something new to come out before you get started. You should have started 2 weeks ago, don't waste another 2 weeks. Alan
Like they said they won't move ALL eBay sites.. Most of them though.. Hmm That's what i noticed at least?
It would be great to be able to transparently handle all eBay locales without having to sign up for each one, yada yada, especially if they can handle the geocoding for us too. That DOES suggest some more major changes to the API though...
