I was just wondering if it was possible to see where your competitors get their traffic from. Any tips would be helpful!

You can hire someone to hack into their hosting account and insert some analytics software...

if you can have someone hack their hosting/server
than why not just insert your information, as long as
your breaking intl. laws may aswell go all out.

Theres one small and simple thing you could do. Go to yahoo let's say and try to find all the links that are attached to the competitor's domain name.

    How? Here's the tip:

just type in the search box this - linkdomain:www.yourdomain.com

In case you do not want to see the internal page links just type this -

    linkdomain:www.yourdomain.com -site:www.yourdomain.com

This is a fairly easy way to monitor your competitors behavior regarding links and channels they use to get traffic and so on. I hope this will help you guys!

P.S: If you want to use Google you have to type this - link:yourdomain.com

I'm still new at competitive analysis, but here are a couple of tools that might help you learn a little more about the competition:

    hxxp://www.compete.com/
    hxxp://www.quantcast.com/

Compete will give you raw traffic data, allowing you to compare various sites to one another. Quantcast can give you information on the demographics of the site's visitors.

    Hope this helps.

You could probably try alexa if its a fairly popular site.
