Do you think writing on myspace is a waste of time?

I did try posting to MySpace at one point, not only is it a real pain the behind to get the particular page indexed, but when it eventually did I didn't really notice a change in my Search Engine Rankings.

Might have seen this already, but if you're looking for a list of sites where you can "make your own" links there is a pretty fab thread here: http:// forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=745087

I'd not bother with myspace. Blogspot may hold some promise.

from what I have seen. It looks like myspace rewrites your urls to use another domain, and then forwards the link to your site. This would give no link value.

I personally like blogspot. You can edit the html so that you can remove the nofollow tags. It's still a good way to get traffic to you web site.

I developed a little script that will post arcade flash games to blogs. So every time you run the script it posts a game to my blog. I have been using it for about 3 months now. Last time I counted I received 5,600 unique visitors in one month.

I thought that only blogspot comments are nofollow...

But reading the above makes it seem that even links in blogspot posts are nofollow. Is this true?

I just checked on a blogspot blog and the links in a blogpost aren't nofollowed.

That's true with the default templates but you can modify it and add follow tags.

An idea is to provide a product with your site's URL available for free for MySpace users that spreads like wild fire. Example is a video or wall paper. Each of these has a link on it that describes how to add it to your own MySpace page. Viral marketing :)

Do not use myspace to increase backlinks... if you have a product or site that your friends on myspace (and myspace users in general) would want (think ringtones, etc) then myspace can be a good source of traffic, but no search engine optimization benefit.

I know it can drive traffic but I'm not sure if it gives credit on your site SERP.

Why would Google not consider MySpace to credit SERP. Possibly to much possibility for spam? Maybe someone tried this already and went to far - Google picked up on this early on. Any way to verify that Google does not credit our SERP?
