Pay-Per-Play audio ads? Do you like them?

Has anyone ever used Pay-Per-Play audio ads before?

There's a company that's advertising pay-per-play. They'll basically play a 5 second (family-friendly) ad every time someone loads my page.

I was thinking of trying it out on one of my pages with lower traffic.

My only concern is that I have no idea what I'll get paid. They advertise that I'd get paid, " 25% of what the advertiser spends per play on audio ads that you serve on your website." But I have no idea how much that might be.

Has anyone had any experiences with this type of program?

    Thanks.

Good for worthless sites that you don't care much. There are far better ways to monetize your site which won't irritate your visitors.

You get paid $3.50 per thousand ads played so you would need a site that has some kind of traffic.

I think I read on the site somewhere that an advertiser pays 2.8 cents per play, meaning every play pays you .7 cents.

It sounds like the money's not going to be that great. :(

Maybe I'll give it a shot on one of my low-traffic sites just to see what it's like. I have a feeling I'll be switching back to adsense in the end.

Thanks to all for your help.... I'll let you know how it goes.

No the Pay Per Play isnt that great. No I dont have 1000 uniques. But I do get atleast 50 hits a day. And still have only earned 4 cents since their grand opening. The ads are suppose to rotate from site to site. But still you would think I would earn more than 4 cents since day 1(which was 2/1/08)

No need to drop any of your other banners as the audio ads do not take any space on your pages... so in effect, this will be like free money... icing on your cake... and more money added to your bottom line ;)

According to the emails I get and after a long wait for an audit to be finalized... they say things will be finally taking off for this program later this week. So far during their testing (which started 2/1)... I have earned .41 for 118 "pageviews". How much would I have gotten from Adcents ? Most likely not near that.

Still too early to decide whether this will really work or not.

    Yes I agree with you

It will be good to see the audit by BPA World Wide.

BPA is there 3rd party auditor that verifies there distribution to advertisers. They say that BPA has been auditing the radio, television and print media industries for over 75 years. Advertisers rely on BPA audits for an accurate account of there distribution and they are proud to be a part of the organization.

When the audit releases during the week of March 15th, 2008 they will ramp up the audio ads in a big way.

So it all looks above board, best join and watch, that would be my advice what have you to lose?

They must have spent shed loads of cash on this?

Personally, I would steer clear of this program. Not only because the leader is a convicted felon but because the math simply doe snot add up. It seems impossible for publishers to make more than a few dollars a day.

We are using these on our free hosting network, and now that ads are starting to run, it is clear that this will make a lot more for us than AdSense ever did. The payout is a $3.50 CPM.

I'd value my visitors more than the few dollars you'll make. It's annoying to have any sound start playing as soon as you reach a site. If it was after visitor interaction, might not be so bad, nut like this not for sure.

They were supposed to launch PPP on Feb. 1st, but until now nothing really happened. Members are required to have patience. Lots of it! Because instead of doing something productive the PPP guys only launch was a war against anyone on their forums who dare to show some concerns about the program.
This whole thing is born dead. And it stinks.

Anyway, if some of you guys decide to join the program, it's OK because it's free. Just bare in mind that:

    1. If you join their forums, do NOT disagree with anyone in there!
    2. Do NOT show any concern about the program. They'll take this as an offence and they'll ban you, or worse, they (the mods) will make public your site stats!
    3. Have PATIENCE: nothing is gonna happen anyway! :D
    4. Have FAITH in the program. Trying to sort things out using logic or common sense is not going to help you at all.
    5. Don't even think to CRITICIZE (constructive or not) the program, the forum mods arrogant attitude or the nonsense you may come upon in the forums. You will be immediately be flagged as a agitator and you'll get tons of aggressive not-very-friendly remarks.
    6. If you still want to be active on the forums, do not forget that you joined a bunch of ass-kissers with a very simple belief system: if they kiss each other's ass and together they kiss the moderators' asses, this PPP bull shit will actually work!

    Good luck!

So how things are now scoopy? Still waiting for things to take off. 2/1 was the official launch date, not the start of testing period LOL! When you sign up, you have to agree with this statement: "I understand that paid advertising will begin in February, 2008". Who told you the testing period started on 2/1?

Do you have other sites than the one in your signature with PPP?
