Design looks okay, works in all browsers, not sure I'd duplicate the category structure as you've done on the left, but probably down to personal preference there. Lose the 'Human Edited Strong Directory', it's not strong yet so claiming it won't do you any favours. The 'site of the day' image in internet explorer 7 looks very blurry and doesn't do it any favours. Use a better image reduction software perhaps? I'd also hot link the icons to the categories, adding title tags to them as I hover, much less fiddly than going to the link as the icon is a bigger target for me. Nice work, well done.
I'll second the comment on the celebrity picture - who is that anyway? It also looks a bit off as it it the only photograph in the group.
I have a few minor suggestions, the 'site of the day' should be moved to a more visible portion of the page (even higher in the column because there is just a repeat of categories above it). You need to add some space beside the yahoo news images so the words don't touch the pics. A few of the icons next to the categories are not very good (eg. low quality). Is your pricing really: Featured links with 7 deeplinks $40 1 Month Regular links with 4 deeplinks $20 1 Month If not I would fix that asap or you won't be getting many submissions. good luck
Personally, I would add bottom margin to description of directory on homepage so it doesn't stick to categories part. I would also move site of the day above categories since you already have them on homepage with icons-good work Rob Overall good team and nice template. P.S. I didn't know Mikey codes PHPLD templates.
You do now . I think last time we spoke I said I was learning to code. I am a fast learner with many things. There is a long way to go though...
Yes, looks good. I think I echo several of the comments here: make the icons linked, the site of the day image is blurry, etc. Couple extra comments: There seems to be quite a bit of extra space between each news item at the bottom. Also, I might make the category text larger, or possibly add a text description (although that might be too messy/crowded). Overall, looks good!
The penalty discussion was Spetember/October. It was a long time after that. Sharat I'm suprised at you. I didn't think that you were the sort of person to act like this in public. I delivered your themes to you very quickly at half the price that your other coder would have done them at. There were a few minor issues with IE6. And as a poor student, I only have one computer. I dont have the luxury of testing things on two PCs. But as I am a hard worker and dont want to let down customers like yourself I removed IE7 and I am fixing your problems as we speak. I thought I'd wait until I had spoken with you and all 4 themes were complete rather than sending them one by one......
Mikey, for future you can use multiple ie and http://browsershots.org/ for online versions. Hope that helps.
Just one word - "awsome" Asim's designs are always sleek and great. Mikey has integrated it to the fullest. @mikey --and yes-- Rob's mod is making the directory look even greater. Well done Chetan and others.
What's the iconMOD? Curious because I am upgrading as well and always looking for interesting mods. Thanks! Oh, and great job, I also didn't know you coded.
Well...Mike..Check out my history here at DP...Never ever i have said anything bad to someone who is really good at something But how does it feel when you are messaging someone constantly on MSN messengers and there is no reply on the other end. And then you come and see how active that guy is in DP forums.Sorry, but then i can lose my anger, my patience and whatever... I am a human and am bound to react if someone is ignoring you like anything. So accept it Mike. If you'd been busy all i needed was a reply saying "Sharat, i am busy for few days" and matter ends. Let's not spoil the fun of thread anymore. And let's concentrate more on work. Shall we? And please, let this small conversation not effect the way we work or deal. You are a great budding coder and i accept it. Let's move on....
Acuman, the mod helps in placement of icons on homepage of the directory, which is there in my directory And mikey, Sharat.. can we be on the topic please? Btw thanks guys and balkanboy thanks for the multiple ie link.. didnt knew about that before.
hey nice work u broke th monotony feels like a visual directory. jus had a random run through.here's wt i noticed under shopping you have listed three sub categories for computers. >Computer Hardware >Computer-Equipment >Computers at the least any two would have been sufficient jus a suggestion. i believe cataloging is the most important part of a directory & a complex one too.
It is and well spotted, All he needs to do is change it to 'Computer Systems' or something as I think that this is what they mean?
