Hi there, I have a blog running using WordPress. I am using a cPanel hosting. I know the importance of back-up... but i don't understand how to back-up my wordpress blog.. By back-up i mean.. everything.. right from the plugin, posts, comment...etc So what do you suggest.... - Backup Plugin - Doing cPanel backup.. i mean database and ftp - Both.... Also, please suggested what mean would be easy to restore.. in case i want to shift to a new host because my host went down.. so a plugin will be helpful of a database and ftp one.... thanks in advance...
Use the WP export option regularly to keep your content backed up and ensure that you keep copies of any themes or edited WP files ... nothing much more to it
I use this wp backup plugin to email me weekly db backups. http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup
thanks for the link... its says so does tht means tht it takes my posts and links and comments... ??? if so i will use this plugin and along with this keep a backup of my themes folder too.... and how is the restore option for this plugin.. i mean have you ever tried it..
This is the plugin I use. Yes it will backup all posts/blogroll/comments, everything basically. If you install additional plugins which create new tables, you have the option to backup these too. The theme files is stored on your file server, not the database.
great the plugin worked... i got a mail and i have also scheduled for a weekly backup... i got a sql.gz.. file .. i guess sql file is used for restoring in case if i need to change hosts... and as for themes i will do the ftp backup thing. .. thanks a lot everyone... thanks...
Yes, the SQL file will restore your blog with everything (posts, comments, pages, etc). I use Wp-Backup plugin as well and I love it.
