ok, give me a guide to LLLL.net names (or give me a link to a place witha guide) if registered one now what would the value be? if i registred one and put 1000 backlinks into it, whats the value? if i did both of those and kept it for 2 or 5 years, whats the value? what else would put up the price? thanks!
its only worth what some one is willing to pay for it! its all about what you got! a good pronounceable name / brandable name usually gives you good value ! of course your value would be higher if u got 1000 back links and traffic would help the value & also revenue ! heres a link for your reading Here
ok lets say for exmaple i had... UOEA.net (could be used for University Of East Anglia) and i had 1000 backlinks, with 3000 uniques a month.. what would one pay for it?
Well, for anyone other than the University of East Anglia, it's not a very good name. However, if it had 1000 backlinks and 3000 uniques a month, it would be worth something, though the website behind the domain would probably be worth more than the domain itself.
i dont have a domain yet, im thinking of investing in some 4 letter domains, then stick some proxies there so it doesn't go to waste, i already have a hosting package i can park the name on... what would you reccomend?
Most likely reg fee. Otherwise if they were worth more, all would've been bought out already. Depends on the Quality of the name, the actual development of the name & the traffic & revenue of the name. Age might only get you about an extra $30 to $50 more to people here on DP that like aged domains. Doesn't really make too much of a difference in regards to value IMO.
"speculating" is a more appropriate word than "investing" A speculator believes (hopes) that the price of his property will increase over time and he will be able to sell it for more than his purchase price & carrying costs. This is sometimes called the Greater Fool Theory. An investor looks at an asset's revenue stream (or potential revenue stream) and expects to make money whether or not he sells the asset. You speculate in domain names but invest in websites.
LOL Rep added for adding Fool theory. Good response, tobycoke. What needs to be remembered is that back in 1995 they were "speculating" also on the value of generic domain names.
thats a VERY good answer tobycoke! and if only we had registered those names back then... i think its a bit late to do that now tbh... o well i'll look for the new LLL.com name! (meaning i wont look for LLL.com names.. but something that will go up in value while i hold it!)
P*RN.com was not speculation but an investment as it generated ongoing revenue from day one. It is worth $XXXXXXX because of its revenue stream. qwtx.net or similar are speculation as they have no traffic, are just random combinations, and no obvious revenue generating abilities.
They are out there. It takes vision and research, but they are.... TRUST ME. Porn.com generating revenue from day one? You sure?
I've yet to find value in LLLL.com domains, so I wouldn't count on a lot of value on a LLLL.net alone. There really aren't any end-users for these domains, so domainers are basically flipping them between each other in a never ending cycle. The only end-user I can think of is a possible upstart radio station with those call letters or maybe a university abbreviation like you mentioned above. They usually prefer the dot edu extension though. With that said, if you build a website on any domain and generate links it will be worth something no matter what the domain is. PageRank and backlinks will appeal to any domainer who parks pages.
Ahhh Makes sense. Porn has been through a bunch of different providers in the last year. Everytime they swap, someone always brings it up . The current site looks like a developed page so it isn't that bad.
