That's not a guess -- it's a fact, though it's not real current. Still, as of a few years ago, it was precisely 21.5% http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum89/11568.htm http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/16/technology/16ecom.html
Straight from Google's SEC filings For the full year 2007 their traffic acquisition cost was 30.1%. Google also says that "TAC associated with revenues generated from ads placed on our web sites is considerably lower that the TAC associated with revenues generated from ads placed on our Google Network members’ web sites" Therefore you can infer that the average amount paid to Adsense website is substantially higher than the 30.1% number. That being said what you get paid as a publisher greatly depends on your scale - very high traffic sites can strike deals with Google to get a very high percentage of the advertising revenue.
Whats the benefit of discussing this......My adsense earning means everything to me It does not matter how much google take...
Many advanced and experienced webmaster says that it is 40:60. Google keep just 40 and give away to webmaster 60. Others says that it varies with few things like the area of click and the visitors quality of the site. So it is secret and not open by Google.
you think that there would be a better alternative to adsense by now. i mean there are about 5000 programers on here evryday. it just takes one to make a good program. tons of people are already looking for alternatives for better rates!
i see some reference above showing google sharing 78% of the adsense revenue, sonewhere else i saw its little over 80% but cant remember where i saw that. but they do share majority of the ad revenue no way
You could probably test it by doing an Adwords campaign for a madeup word. Then someone could click on the ad. You could calculate the difference. Just a thought, not a suggestion.
google is probaly reading this and laughing at us cuz we are prbaly way off in one direction or the other
ya your right they probably are laughing cause they Are Stealing money from your ad clicks as we speak. they claim 30.1 but I know for a fact its higher than that. Besides It really doesnt matter what there % is because they Have the ability to Make "clicks" not count. (invalid Clicks) (duplicate clicks) BLAH BLAH BLAH So they take 30.1 % off the ones they count legal and take 100% off the ones that don't count cause they still charge the advertiser. They claim to Reimburse the advertisers, Right...
does anybody here actually even use adwords? thats probably the reason adsense is so bad right now. how can the rates be competitive if theres no competition. i believe that with all the SEO and other free ways to get traffic that people are no longer paying for advertisements.
Plenty of people use Adwords, just not that much for content probably. As to the percentage, my guess is about 120%. Kidding!
