Hello friends I have a Canon MV750i camcorder and since I'm not that good with all these modern devices I ask that someone here help me solve a little problem. I have a few recordings on the tape and I wanted to transfer them to my computer but I don't know how to do this. I even bought a DV cable but still am having problems. My laptop is running Windows Vista, do I need any other Software? Please could someone help me
sorry I did not investigate your mode....but if it's (mini)DV Tape like mine, you need to capture the video via (usually) a firewire card. I beleive the DV cable is just to watch the tape from the camera onto a TV or whatever. so for me, I plug the firewire cable into the DV slot on the camera and then the other side into my PC, start the capture software(which either came with the camera itself or with the firewire card...probably the camera). Navigate to the capture section of the sw, hit record on the SW and then hit play on the camera....KIND of a PITA which is why I rarely use that JVC camera anymore!!
Thanks for the help. These cameras are so complicated that it's hardly worth the effort to use them. I bought a firewire cable and things do seem to work on my Vista but the same can't be said for XP... I use moviemaker to import the videos but like I said before it isn't working on XP.
I don't know what to tell you about why it doesn't work with XP I hear you, I am done with tapes, when I buy a new one it'll be flash or DVD...so what if the quality isn't quite as good...that'll change soon enough
