and what would be the source of that info? edu/gov links are no different than regular links, even Matt Cutt says that. given that your link would be on a student blog or some student page where anyone can comment or buy a link, it would not make any sense for google to see it any differently. however, if you link is on the main edu or gov site with authority, then thats a different story. then again, it would apply to any authority sites.

 

did you try to search google with "site:edu"?

 

I would try asking for those kind of links in the "Links" section here.
