I think that this is a thing of the past to be quite honest. It used to be that if you mentioned you were a blogger or webmaster people used to roll their eyes, but now i believe it is a safer option than most "day jobs" especially with hard times of recent past and present. With people losing their jobs more people are online than ever because they have more time, which also means more people trying to work full time online, more ads displayed etc. Of course there are negatives to this, but overall i think it will be good for those of us doing our research and finding what works, but of course that is just my opinion, what do you think?
Those people know nothing about Internet and they just rely their daily bread on their manual skills...
yenseca , you very much correct. Web programmer and developers were given less respect, nowadays it is changing. I believe internet based companies, may become famous compared other companies.
As we can see hundreds of online business owner becoming rich day by day. Changing the offline business to online business is not that hard except that you should have more time to organize everything and more time to spent on your family. Every business are rushing to setup the online based. If they are not doing it now then they will be left behind with the wealth that they created before and not in the future.
It really all comes down to your credibility. Some 15 year old webmaster putting up blogs about his day at school does not make him a professional at all but still gets the title "webmaster" It comes down to delivery & presentation. If you wanted to be taken seriously then act serious. Quite simple when you really break it down. I have been successful in both the online world and in my day to day routines in that of my 6AM - 4PM job. I am IT lead Developer for a very successful MFG plant. My day to day operations require me to think fresh every day and automate as much as I possibly can to free up my time for all sorts of current and future projects. Top that with being the companies webmaster and you got yourself one busy day. So with that said if I was to go online content writing or blogging you would bet that that it would be at the professional level and it would reflect as such and be taken seriously. At this point I should had proven my point of delivery. Right?
My opinion is completely opposite. Reading experiences from previous years of people here at DP, it used to be incomparable easier earning from Internet and Yahoo, Google CPP and incomes were bigger. If people do lose jobs, then unemployed people have less money to invest into anything or spend onto anything. With more people looking to work online means more work force for the same amount of work, which brings down the monetary value of a working hour.
I think that some internet markets are close to saturation now. In a way this is good - it means people have to innovate to succeed. In another way, it's bad, as there are so many people competing for money, and prices are dropping lower and lower. Many customers try to push for insane deals because they can get links / content / whatever cheaper elsewhere - without thinking that the other offers may be lower quality.
Personally it motivates me when I see someone climbing in their online success, even when its just a goal of 50 dollars a day and it is something they are learning, improving and deserving. Most "9-5" jobs do not have the luxury of increasing revenue or enjoyment by learning. In the overall scheme of things Learning is fun, but when it gets you nowhere, it can actually be more of a slap in the face than anything.
