This is Really weird..Has this happened to you?

    So, I have a fairly new site..couple of months old...I rank pretty good on less competitive keywords....Then about two weeks ago, I tweaked my site for a very competitive keyword and within 3-4 days I was on the first page for that keyword...... then next day I was gone.......Now he is the interesting part.....
    It has been about 7-8 days now... I rank about 3rd-4th after 12 am every night ( morning in fact)..I am on the first page right now ( 2 30 am) , but It goes to 12th position during the day...... It's not just one day..has been happening for about a week now.....Is google checking something? It would be so awesome, if I got stuck on the first page....
    Any such experience ?

    Think this is due to an update, give it a week or two and results will settle. I have seen this before a few times when results change day to day, they will settle though.

    Yes, it is possible, i too had one such experience, and it happened for almost 3 months and one site kept going up and down and only since the last two months it has stabilised- dont ask me why, though it is a very competitive health niche medical site that i was trying to rank

    sometimes it gets first and some time gone......happening from last few days

    I think it happens because of how many people are looking for that special keywords at the same time. If many people are looking for your keywords, then It could be possible that your goes down because Google shows your competitors in the first position.
    Maybe I am wrong but it is my suggestion.

    I also experienced this situation. Seems like google has been updating every now and then. So we shall continue working for our site to get on top everyday.

    I am not going to touch any of my keywords or meta tags right now....Sometimes you make a simple change and google just throws you way back.......I am going to just wait and see...Hopefully this experience will help me understand how to optimize better....
