    Hello

    Yay, just order my new computer forum Cube247 (they are uk based, so no americans will know them).

    Specs:

    * Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
    * Intel Core 4 QUAD Q6600 CPU
    * 8192MB Corsair DDR II 667 Memory
    * 1000GB SATA II Seagate Data Storage
    * NEC 7200 Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter
    * ATI Radeon High Definition 2600 512MB Graphics Card
    * 7.1 High Definition Surround Sound
    * Intel Deluxe Motherboard
    * Multi Format Memory Card Reader
    * DVD/CD ROM Drive
    * 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN
    * 12 x USB2 Ports
    * Firewire

    Should be a fair bit faster than the one I have now

    It is being custom built using their system builder thing (like dell's) and is based on the Meridian ST12 with some upgrades.

    Can't wait till it arives.

    General use, to replace my older computer that I have now.

    I wasn't planning to upgrade, but the one I use now seems to overheat and completely freeze, it is also a month out of it's warrenty so I would have to pay for a repair.

    Ok, I don't know what I would do with a Quad-Core setup like that. :eek:
    Let me know how Vista performs. Any reason you choose Vista over XP?

    £900, which is $1800 but computers are always more expensive in the UK :cool:

    Right now I have a dual-core setup with 2 gigs of ram, but with firefox, msn, dreamweaver, photoshop, thunderbird and a few others apps open it slows down and is sluggish.

    Yeah I will let you know about Vista, right now it seems to balance fine between the two cores I have, but not sure about four. I chose Vista because I use Vista already so it will be easier to move everything over and because they only supply and XP option on their lower spec PCs, not on the one I wanted.

    Yeah, I was suprised. I knew I wanted to go with a smaller UK system builder like Mesh, Evesham or Cube but after comparing the same budget with Mesh I could only get 2Gb of RAM, 4Gb if I spent a little more.

    Also, I have used Cube before and their support was good, and I gave them a ring with some noob questions to see how well they answered them (I always do this, some of them lie to me). And I got their 3 year warranty, just incase something goes wrong.

    Yeah, it's just most people here are so I convert everything to dollers :p

    EDIT: I forgot to say, it only comes with the box, no monitor, keyboard, mouse etc. which reduce the price. You can see the base unit here, I got some upgrades:

    I don't really care for small computer systems builder, I just go with the stock level you get at PC World, lol.

    Monitor - You could use your current one
    Keyboard - Apple Wireless Keyboard
    Mouse - Logitech

    Thanks, I really hope it is as good as it's specs say it will be. I'm gonna try and overclock it and then do benchmarks which I will post.

    Yeah, Agent_Dweeb. I already have a good keyboard and good mouse, and I recently bought a new monitor anyway. I will just put my old PC down in my cellar where it is actually freezing (never above 3 or 4) and hope it doesn't freeze up, that way I can use it as a file server or something.

    I like the smaller builders since I never get put on hold and I just feel that smaller companies care more whilst the big ones like Dell, HP and the distributers like PC World and Currys don't care about customers, just numbers.

    Thats what I thought when I saw it, I was like whoah amazing. So I decided to get it since it was going cheap :p

    Also, last time I got a new pc I got a fairly crap one so that I didn't have to spend much and could upgrade in a year. This time I am buying a high end one so I don't have to upgrade it quickly.

    I hope you got the 64 bit version of Vista. otherwise the extra 5GB of ram are useless.

    Thanks :)

    Yeah, thanks for reminding me about this, I will check when I get it. It comes with Home Premium already installed so I assume it would be 64 bit since they installed it, but if not I have a version of Ultimate I bought for my old computer. that is 64 bit anyway that I can install anyway.
