I don't know if you have been made aware, but recent news from the campaign trail also tell us that Obama supports change. That alone is reason enough for him to win.

I have seen it and I see what is going on. There is no reason for him to be anywhere near where he is now except for the black vote. I stand by it and Geraldine stands by her comments as well.

He is first the Black he knows how to put two words together since Luther King , he is the first black without accent from the ghetto. The rest is an empty vessel. But this is not important. People rather to have their kids kiss by him than Mac Cain LOL !!!!!

I once went to a church and the minister completely distorted a story in the Bible just to fit his message. I will never go back. He even said he was making it up. I don't know why he thought it was appropriate.

A minister at another church once gave a sermon that started with flying monkeys and ended with "if I ever seriously give sermon about flying monkies I expect to be phyically removed from the church immediately by the congregation."

Obama has been going to a church headed by a racist for 20 years.

I wonder if the thought that maybe he should fire the guy (or at least stop supporting the guy by attending/giving offerings) ever crossed his mind.

Is this the change we're looking for? A guy that will just sit by, and donate to, a church headed by a preacher full of hate? Did MLK ever tell people to hate America?

No wonder his wife has never been proud of America. She's been fed a bunch of "hate america" sermons for the past 20 years.

I'd believe Obama could actually bring about any good change if he could have demonstrated leadership in the last 20 years and turned that church around. I think MLK would be ashamed of that church. It goes against everything he believed in.

It's revelations like this that will destory Obama in the national election if he gets the nomination. If Hillary went to a woman's pride church and heard sermons every week about how men are evil and should be damned then she'd be shamed out of the election process already.

No it wouldn't. you seem to assume that just because the church is black-centric means that it most preach hate of people that aren't black in some way. But if you where to step into the average black church you would find out that is far from the truth.

where did you get this info? I think I remember seeing Obama saying that we should focus more on Africa (which would be a good thing), but I don't remember saying we should divert attention to the middle east.

and increasing a focus of Africa can be done with out decreasing focus on the middle east.

I wish Obama would increase the focus on America. The problems in Africa can be dealt with when our house is in order.

    Right now, it is not.

The pundits say stuff like this all the time, and you can be certain the campaigns know the exact demographic trends, but if someone dares to tell the truth they get attacked. We have plenty of taboos in this day and age. There are plenty of other things people don't talk about for fear of being branded a racist or kook, etc.

True, we do need to get are stuff together (and I think Obama will try to get are act together)

but the way KalvinB put it made it sound that if he increase attention it Africa he has to decrease attention to the Middle East which is a false statement.

Hmmm it seems in october Clinton had the Black lead.

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/17/poll.blacks.democrats/index.html

"Among black registered Democrats overall, Clinton had a 57 percent to 33 percent lead over Obama."

Maybe, just maybe the reason Obama has such a high Black lead isn't because Black people are voting for him because he's black but he is saying something they like.

(or maybe Clinton has recently done things to piss off some of here Black supporters)

Then Obama does not go to the average black church.

    http://www.tucc.org/black_value_system.html

Most black churches are "black" because of the way they worship. Not because of what they teach. Obama goes to a church that preaches that God should send America to hell. He goes to church that revolves around being black and "black values." Most black churches revolve around "Christian Values" but worship in a way that a lot of white people aren't comfortable with. Different cultures have different ways of worshipping.

TUCC, the church that Obama goes to, goes beyond cultural differences in the methods of worship and into a racist message.

Or maybe all the polls have been wrong and people say one thing and do the exact opposite. If it had nothing to do with his race then the numbers would far less skewed. He won the male vote in 75% of the states. He won the black vote in 100% of the states. Hillary won the female vote in 60% of the states.

There was a study awhile back that asked business owners if they would turn away someone because of their race. All business owners except one said they wouldn't. The study then had an asian (this was around the time of WWII) go into each of those businesses. All but one turned him away. The one that didn't turn him away was the owner that had said he would.

A lot of people say they will vote a certain way but when they get to the polls and they have to lock in their decision, they go with their prejudices. Men and Blacks vote overwhelmingly for Obama and women give a slight boost to Hillary. Women are probably the least racist and sexist of the bunch.

I can believe that blacks are voting for Obama because of his values. But if it's the "black values" that his church preaches then those are racist values. If you vote for a KKK member because he hates Jews then you can claim you're voting "on the issues" but that's a racist issue and as such, you're voting because you're racist.

I have to disagree about church only being a place of worship and not teaching, giving most churches I have been to or seen do teach their views of the bible and how to apply them to life.

thanks for the link to the site

looking at the page you linked to I don't see any thing racist.

yes it's focused on the black comminty but there is no hating or saying blacks are better then nonblacks.

I think it should be noted that the Black church has historically played a bigger role then just a house of worship in the black community but it also has been a center of the community.

because sometimes churches have to focus beyond just worship and talk about social issues effecting the black community.

and this is what seems to be going on with this black values page and if you read it, you'll notice it's not saying to hate anyone but it's really a just a list of things they feel Black people should do to get there crap together.

Ok maybe some people lied, maybe not I honestly think at least most of them where telling the truth when they said they where looking at Clinton last year.

I know there have been a few things from done by the Clinton campaign (or by people link to them) that have turned at least some black people away from her.

the Ferraro mess just being the latest.

you might be over reaching with that example. This church is far from being anywhere close to being klan-like.

Also people are voting for Obama and not his church.
