I did. Easily one of my favourite TV programs ever made. But I think I've seen enough for a while. Maybe in a year or so, I'll dig out the DVDs and have a Sopranos marathon.
A gerat TV show which deserved a lot better ending. Will always rememebr the first episode and the "We went out for Coffee!" comment - pure class.
The ending of the Sopranos is brilliant my friend.. David Chase has done a very good job though. Although the opinions are different of course.
I wasn't impressed. I feel there were alot of possibilities and they went for an easy option of leaving it open to your imagination.
True, but like David Chase told before, there is no puzzle and everything is logic but you have to think further than just the fade to black screen at the end. Tony gets killed, it's all in the symbolism, as it always was with the show. Remember the first episode of this season, when he's in the boat with Bobby Bacala? He says to Bobby: 'what do you think it's like when you get killed? Bobby answers, "I dunno, I guess everything just goes black." In the final scene when Tony is in the booth at Holstens restaurant, the camera shows you "thru his eyes" every person that walks in the door. Finally, after all that time, Meadow comes rushing in. Tony looks up (and thru his eyes) sees her come thru the door and then BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing.....silence........Tony gets shot in the head by the guy that went to the bathroom (Have you seen the Godfather? Exact the same scene), and the last thing he saw was his daughter coming in. (Thus, the conversation he had with Bobby Bacala) And beyond that, have you seen that trucker guy walks in that restaurant? Well that was the friend of the trucker that gets killed by Chrissy Moltisanti (remember the dvd players?), did you recognized those 2 black guys walking in the restaurant? They were the two guys who tried to kill Tony before in the car. And that Italian guy at the bar that walks to the toilet, he was credited as a nephew of Phil Leotardo. Many reasons were there to kill Tony. Meadow tried to park the car, but it did not succeed the first two times, but the third time it succeed. The first two attempts at Tony's life throughout the seried failed, perhaps this means the third time succeed!
I know what you mean, I also wanted a concrete ending, now it's unclear, but although it's a good ending, but it would be good if the screenwriter David Chase has gave some more comments on this ending
@ Dick007 - great post, you've made we want to go watch the final episode again But to do that I'll have to watch everything from season 1! Looks like my Sopranos marathon might come sooner than later. Thanks
You're welcome mate. You have to watch closely to everything. And still, it's unclear, this is just a theory of me, but in my opinion the most possible theory. Of course we should hear the theory from the screenwriter David Chase to be sure, but unfortunately that guy doesn't want to comment on that ending.. I'm hoping on a film of the sopranos. I hope it will come!
I think thats exactly why there is no comment from the HBO camp. They want the opportunity for more if needs must.
all those years of watching for a shitty ending, i sure hope there is a movie in the works to tie it up
I've started my Sopranos marathon. I watched nearly all of Season One the other night. This is the second time I've watched the whole thing from the start (not including when it was on TV), and I'm still seeing LOTS of things that I didn't see before. I never noticed Meadow had such a big arse for a start
