If you are thinking about getting an HTML editor, do not get Dreamweaver CS3!

    It is FILLED with BUGS!

I have had nothing but problems with it ever since I got it.

It just doesn't follow what you command it to do. It's as if it has a mind of its own.

I honestly don't know how these people can stay in business while selling junk like this! And the worst thing about it is that they somehow feel justified in charging a high price for it:confused:

perhaps it would be good to start up a blog and give everyone that has been having problems with this software an opportunity to submit their complaints. Maybe the owners would WAKE up then and do something about their BUG INFESTED program!

Hell, I've been saying that about Dreamweaver since day one...

Though ALL of the CS3 products royally piss me off - they are so completely loaded down with rubbish crapplets you can't even deinstall and expect the programs to still work that I'm amazed there isn't more outcry over what total fat bloated CRAP the ENTIRE CS3 product line is. Photoshop & Illustrator CS3 pretty much borked BOTH my 10.4.8 OSX install AND my XP install on another machine to the point of needing a full reinstall from scratch on EACH.

Hell, it makes Vista look good.

    Ha!

    And that's another one!

When I got my new PC I had to upgrade to CS3 because I couldn't get the updates for MX2004 as that feature was not compatible with Vista. So it was either keep the bugs or get rid of them by upgrading. Little did I know however, that I would get even more bugs in the upgrade!

    Notepad blows big time.

If you are real programmer, get Notepad ++ - All the language you can think of in 1 package. Syntax included of course :)

Another rinky wysiwyg tinkertoy churning out fat bloated garbage code that only the blindest of luck gets to work cross browser.

That said it appears to be the LEAST objectionable of the lot... Still no reason to use it.

When I use the CSS feature it often puts code into my pages that I didn't put there. Then I have to go into the code and fix it. It's quite time consuming.

For those of you on a Mac, try BBEdit. It is a plain text editor with neat features like "zap gremlins" which gets rid of non-printable, non-format charaters.

See this is where things get interesting, what do you mean by css feature?

You have code view, split view and design view. If you start highlighting text and changing colors, sizes, fonts DW will create those styles for you. Perhaps this is what is happening?

I have been using DW for 8yrs now and really it is nowhere the beast so many make it out to be. You have a page live somewhere?
