Hello All, I just signed up to the new Earth Hour website for 2008 and I thought you might like to take a look and possibly sign up too. Earth Hour is on 29 March 2008 at 8pm, and it looks like it's going to be really big. So far, as well as Sydney, there'll also be Adelaide, Atlanta, Bangkok, Brisbane, Canberra, Chicago, Christchurch, Copenhagen, Dublin, Manila, Melbourne, Montreal, Odense, Ottawa, Perth, Phoenix, San Francisco, Suva, Tel Aviv, Toronto and Vancouver all turning off their lights for an hour in the name of fighting global warming. And I'm sure there'll be more cities by March. Sign up for Earth Hour with me by visiting http://www.earthhour.org/user/J2kH and join the movement with me. Turning lights off is for the betterment of this world we all live in. Make it a success. Thank you all.
You do realise that if every person in every city you mentioned turned off their lights for an hour then their efforts would be more than offset by the increase in carbon emissions of China in about 5 minutes?
I guess, when big companies will turn off their power for an hour. it will be good time for them to test their power backup generators
I do that more than an hour. About 5 hours U turned my light off and everything... When I sleep Anyways, Plan is not that bad but only hard to achieve.
Thank you for those who have joined the revolution at http://www.earthhour.org/user/J2kH Its something we can do at-least collaborating with each other. Thank you guys for your time.. please let this flow grow as GLOBAL WARMING is the biggest threat to our planet right now.. please invest small amount of your time and join in. appreciate it very much Cheers!
Nice move here, mainienator... I'm also one of the supporter that sign up for this event and also have posted it at my blog as well.. Can't wait until 29th March 2008, will be turn off all of the lights for one hour, from 8pm to 9pm...Let's have a talk and a cup of wine under the moonlight...
well, i can certainly understand people personal problem with turning off lights.. but this is a step againt GLOBAL WARMING and looking at you few people, more will follow.. thats when it becomes a global awareness and small and simple steps can cover the drain that approaching us slowly and steadly..
This thread reminded me of an article I saw today: "Dear townspeople: Thank you for your efforts to conserve water during the drought, your efforts have prevented shortages. However, because you used less water than expected, our rates must go up. Have a nice day" http://news14.com/content/local_news/charlotte/593637/water-rate-increases-could-be-coming/Default.aspx
I guess we all need to spare sometime and feel for the world. I really appreciate the time you guys have taken and joined and would highly appreciate if even more can join.. Atleast we all are doing good to ourself.. By Joining and sticking to what has been the motive of the 60 Earth Hour, we can help others and out planet live longer.. Thanks
This is such a good move. But I think it would be difficult to do in our area. We are surrounded by plenty of manufacturing plants and I doubt they will turn of their production. Besides they have big generators, they will just used it in case the power shuts off. The problem is, they are diesel powered and it will only add more pollution.
I have seen quite of you appreciating the move but not joining.. please show your consent by joining as well. the more you guys join, the faster this news spreads and the quicker this world knows whats approaching them in near future... Thanks once again
The reality is that no matter what the west does the growth of china and india etc are going to mean co2 output will keep going up.
