Hi! I am building an eBay Editor Kit for my site, and I am wondering about this... If a visitor clicks on an eBay link on my site, but does not buy this particular item, but another instead. Would I see any commissions, or is the tracking cookie specific to the item the visitor clicked on? Thank you!
Yes it does...!! That's what good in eBay affiliate program...but actually all other programs 9such as amazon) do the same... BTW the cookies is good for 7 days
Thank you for your reply. So, anything that the visitor bids on and wins will translate into a commission? How does the cookie work if the person goes back on eBay three days later?
thats all correct SO LONG as yours is the last cookie they recieve. ie if they click another affiliate link after yours you will not receive any money the other guy will.
Okay, thank you for the clarification. It is pretty neat that even if the visitor returns to eBay five days later and buys something completed unrelated, you would still obtain a commission! Thanks again all!
It is fascinating what eBay buyers actually win through your eBay links. So many times the auction items you get commission for, have nothing whatsoever to do with your niche. All this means is that whatever the ebayer bid on, after going through your link to eBay and wins pays you money! (Within the parameters already stated.)
Man that's the truth! I'm constantly amazed at the items bought through my links that have nothing at all to do with my niche sites. Something interesting to think about, a lot of people share their computer with family members and friends that might buy something through the same browser that your cookie was set on which you then get the commission for. You gotta love that 7 day cookie when that happens!
Yep, cookies are like gold. I get a kick out of seeing what people are buying through my links. I had one ebayer buy items from four different types of products than my niche in four days for a total of eleven sales from one person.
