Looking for some review on my new blog design

Hi, guys i had redesign my blog at www.derek-ang.com, could some experienced guys please give some feedbacks and comments about the design?

 

Great work. I liked the header image - Impressive.

I like the design, but isn't the standard advertising spot on a blog 125 x 125? You only have 100 x 100.

The visual styling itself isn't too bad, but the layout could use some help. You've got 500 pixels of header/navigation (basically 'nothingness') before you even get to the header for the actual content on the page - meaning the thing people actually GO to blogs for - the CONTENT - is pushed off the page on most 1024x768 maximized browser setups. I would try my best to get that entire header area to below 200px - 120 or so is the 'ideal'.... People do NOT go to websites for the goofy graphics, advertising or any of the rest of that rubbish - they go there for the content... and yours doesn't even show up to the majority of the browsing public without scrolling down a full page.

That said, you've got excellent font sizes, dynamic fonts, and tasteful colors with enough contrast to be legible - putting this way over most of the schlock you see on blogs these days.

It's an okay design.

It has a large header before even getting to any content, which is the only thing I don't like about it.

Nice design but i think u should make the background color from Grey to white. tht will be better.
