Forum Signatures a doubt ?

I am having a doubt regarding forum signatures. If I am buying a dofollow forum signature for one month. And the signature spreads over 1000 threads or postings.

But what happens if the signature is changed after one month ?

It depends on the forum - in some forums, when you buy a signature, you only get the signature for future posts (old posts stay the way they were) - so when the user changes their sig, your links are still there for the posts they made while it was up. I think this board works like that.

Most boards, when a user changse their sig link, it will change for all posts, and you'll lose those old links.

If the board is very active, the traffic you get in that one month may be worth it though.

Its all a matter of indexing and re-indexing.

There are some older threads with older sigs of mine in them. Though, as google stumbles through a link to an older thread, as threads get bumped, or by others means of bots finding posts, those will all eventually be found & re-written to show the change.

That is why buying longer term sigs is better then short term, and also why the higher post counts are worth more... it's actually less then the total number, and more of a case of once any older sigs are re-indexed, the more likely they are to stay. A high daily post average is a great measure as well... though quality SHOULD count for something because a sig link has as much to do with HUMAN traffic as bot traffic.

Look at a long term signature link and like Qryztufre has said look for an active poster with good content in their posts.

Also look at the category the forum is in and if that is suitable for your site. A signature link for a music site is going to get less clicks from DP members than a SEO/Search Engine link.

In forum like dp once you change the sig, it changes to the new sig in all its posts.

Signatures also help in quick indexing of your sites apart from creating hordes of backlinks.

I mainly use forum sig for quick indexing, this should not be your only method in helping to get your website indexed though.

Try it out for a month, if it seems to be effective - Why not just keep it there?... at least that way you will know whether it's worth it or not.

Oh and like etali said, check the specific forums rules on how the links work and change.

    Yup. Sticker is right.

So if you need it for lets say a backlink consideration. Look for a possibility of something like 3 - 6 months. Considering that is the usual/or expected Google PR updates. That is to assume that is what you are looking for in the long run.

Whatever may be the case a signature link in a forum like DP not only brings traffic but also gets your site indexed quickly so it may be worth a try to get the links for some period of time and have quality content on your website so that the traffic that you get from DP amounts for the publicity of your site.Remember at the end of the day its the content which is the king. :D
