How can someone create a sub domain on your domain, without your knowledge?

I think it would be best that you ensure there is nothing on your site that violates Google's TOS and ask for re inclusion.

Sites sometimes do get penalized for inbound links. you should request consideration here
(https ://www. google.com/webmasters/tools/reconsideration) [remove the spaces frm the url] and hopefully you can get your position in the SERPs back.

I have never heard of this before google has stated that you will not be punished if another site links to you, even if the other site has been punished by google. You probably did something else that you are not aware of.

robots.txt is a file you put in your root directory (usually this will be the "www" folder). It tells the spiders what pages they can crawl/index.

This has been my EXACT problem for one of my sites for over a year. I put it on the back burner and slowly tried to weed out the bad link(s). My problem is that I cannot find what/why I am being penalized for but, your above explanation has put my situation in clarity.
How does one find the link(s) that are being penalized on one's site? I have weeded out any recip links that have gone to PR 0 but, my site is still a PR 3. That will most certainly not work. Any suggestions?

Hard to say. One of my punished sites was pr4 when it got penalised, and now its risen to pr5 and still penalised. Unless the penalty is directly linked to you gaming the pr system I dont think your pr would come into it.

Like you say, the problem is you dont know what google is punishing you for. If you've made a lot of changes then any of them could be to blame. It could also be something you done months ago that google have only just discovered. I've got a slightly black hat solution that I think has about a 20% chance of working, I'm going to try that and see. I'm not really bothered if it makes the situation worse, I've already got a -50 penalty if the doubled it its no different!

How exactly do you gage a -50 penalty?
Is this just an estimation of severity on your part or something different?
I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this.

Well on my top 10 keywords I'd dropped down 50 places on them all. And I cant rank for my site name either. Of course natural rankings fluctuate but they dont all drop by 50 places in the same day. Combined with not ranking for your own name, its a sure sign you've been hit.

It's getting to the point now that I am considering losing all my recip links pages and hoping that any transgressing linkage connection will eventually be erased. Unfortunately, my link partners may suffer but, this is a case of survival of my aged domain. If my domain was less than 5 years old then I would merely disregard and start another site, which I had done anyway. Quite a conundrum, as you know.

Look at the QUALITY of your links, if they are all similar eg thay all say the same thing like :-

    - "MYsite.com - Come here to find some good things related to mysite and you will have a good time" -

THIS can be seen as spam or black hat seo - because google will see that you put up these links yourself - or they have been automated or mass produced in some way - because they are not seen an unique.
