Could this be considered identity theft?

Identify theft, no. It just sounds like impersonation.

BMW, UNFORTUNATELY, this may be the case. I've just had a similar experience with someone attempting to post as me with sub-standard language ability. I could tell that this was some slacker ass-face, because they began the sentence with "Dude", and I wouldn't for the life of me use that outdated California slacker colloquialism unless it was an informal setting (or I wanted to to tone down my command of english). The idiot couldn't even string a simple sentence together, AND, got me an infraction for a supposed affiliate link post. It seems that have ourselves a hacker in the forum who does a poor job of impersonation. This is especially worrisome to me as I'm a new member who bothered to read all the rules of the forum before I even attempted to begin posting. And as a member of several other forums, this is an insult and a direct attack on my character. What I'd suggest for you all to do is to monitor your posts DAILY. This may have happened since I had to be offline for several days to take care of a burgeoning project requiring my full attention.

    That's terrible.
Everyone knows that the word diarrhoea has the letter 'o' in it.

Apparently so, bmw. This is the first time this has happened to me since I've been posting in forums, so I'm trying to take the initiative and squelch that crabby patty before they become a full-time bacterial infection. Have already PM'ed an administrator on this issue, so I expect that this matter will never re-occur. Unsophisticated cur of a bastard couldn't ape my style even if they were paid to.

I've had a lot of taco diarrhea in my life, and none of it has had an O in it.

Must be another corruption of the English language that's crept into usage.
